FRED DUDLEY Obituary

FRED GRAHAM DUDLEY ORLANDO, Fla. - Fred Graham Dudley died on July 25, 2009, at his home in Orlando, Fla., surrounded by his loving family. Fred was born in Rutland, Vt., on Nov. 19, 1945, the son of Harley E. Dudley and Elaine Park Dudley. His family moved to Burlington in the early 1950s. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1965, following which he joined the Naval Reserve. Two years of his three-year tour of duty were spent in the Vietnam War on a naval destroyer in service to his country. Fred moved to Florida in 1972 and married Jane Dingley in 1979. He retired in 2007, after having worked for 32 years as a heavy equipment operator for Orange County Highway Roads and Maintenance. In his early years, Fred was known as "Buzzy". He had a wonderful voice, and enjoyed singing Elvis Presley, Jimmy Buffet, Bob Seger, and many others at special events. He was a big fan of NASCAR and especially Dale Earnhardt. He is survived by his wife Jane; daughter Tena; son Fred Harley; and granddaughter "Lexi" (Alexis); two sisters, Deanna Bright Star of Shelburne and Holly and husband Bob Miller of Burlington; two brothers, Dennis and wife Eileen Dudley of Colchester and Timothy and wife MaryBeth Dudley of Shelburne, as well as eight nieces and nephews and many cousins. Fred was predeceased by his parents and his infant grandson, Seth Harley Davey. A musical celebration of his life will be held in early August in Orlando, Fla., as well as a private family service here in the Burlington area. For those who wish to send condolences, our family would very much enjoy hearing from you, as Fred always enjoyed his visits back to Vermont. He will be missed.
