GARY BASHAW Obituary

GARY P. BASHAW - SOUTH BURLINGTON - Gary Paul Bashaw, 54, passed away unexpectedly as the result of a heart attack on Sunday, July 6, 2014, outside his home. He was born in Burlington on Sept. 15, 1959, to the late Arthur and Theresa (Meilleur) Bashaw. Gary grew up in Essex Junction as part of a large and loving family. He worked as a carpenter for most of his life and had a natural eye for keeping things level, straightening pictures wherever he went. He also worked at the Champlain Valley Exposition for many years where he quickly rose to the position of Stage Manager in recognition of his leadership skills and received the Employee of the Day Award. Gary had a big heart and would go out of his way to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed golf, hunting, camping, riding his 4-wheeler, and having a good laugh. By far the best part of Gary's life was the love he shared with his children. He leaves behind his son, Josh; and his three daughters, Danielle, Krista, and Jessica, as well as Jessica's husband, Tyson Hauf, and their children, Ingrid, Zephyr, Noah, Heron, and a soon to be born baby boy. He also leaves behind his siblings, Lorraine and her husband, Matt Hofmann, Martha and her husband, Mike Paradee, Joseph and his wife, Bonnie, Patricia and her husband, Rodney Rushford, and Daniel and his wife, Jennifer Bashaw. Gary is also survived by an aunt; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Gary will be greatly missed by his family, friends and loved ones. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Community Bible Church, 2025 Williston Rd., South Burlington, VT 05403.

Back when traffic ran up Church St., I remember you teaching me how to play foosball at Uptons. We'd hang out in the park or maybe get a cone across the street at Ben & Jerry's (when they cost fifty cents). You always had a smile on your face. I cherish those days and the great times we had. Rest in peace my dear friend. I'll never forget you.

I was very sad to learn of Gary's passing. We spent many hours at the fair together and he helped me with some carpenter work. He loved his children and they loved him back. I know you and he was lucky to have you in his life. He was a good guy and will be greatly missed. I hope the fond memories you have of him will give you peace in the coming days. If I can ever help , please let me know. Bless you all

Jessica and family - my sincere sympathy at the passing of Gary. He was a very good friend I spent a lot of time with (and you) when he was in his 20's, worked on farms and construction, and called himself Slick. He even talked me into getting a Slick license plate for my new sports car. He was so proud of that! I think I still have it somewhere and a picture of Jessica and Gary at my mom's at Christmas if you would like it Jessica. I loved Gary, but we lost touch when I moved to Texas for a couple of years. I had not seen him since then until I bumped into him about 15 years ago. He looked great and all he did is talk about his kids with a great big smile on his face. That was Gary, always smiling with those dimples, always joking and laughing, no matter what hard times he was having. That is how I will remember him. May many wonderful memories of Gary help you all through this hard time. Patty Desautels Blondin
