John Crabbe Obituary

JOHN 'JACK' H. CRABBE SR. BURLINGTON - John 'Jack' H. Crabbe Sr., passed away in Schaumburg, Ill., on April 14, 2010. Jack was born in Northampton Mass., on Dec. 5, 1915. He married Madeline R. Fayette of Burlington, on June 6, 1947. His beloved 'Megs' predeceased him on Sept. 27, 2002. Jack graduated from Holy Cross College in 1937. He continued on to graduate school at Bay Path Institute from 1937 to 1939, followed by studying advanced accounting at Northeastern University from 1941 to 1942. He enlisted in the Army in 1942, and served on the eastern front in Burma and India. He had a long and distinguished career in the Development field, and completed his career at Loyola University on Dec. 18, 1981, as the Assistant Vice President for Development . Jack loved to play cards, especially cribbage, and was Vermont State champion in 1956. His love of cards was passed on to his children and grandchildren. Surviving Jack is his daughter, Deborah Crabbe; son, John Crabbe, Jr. (Manon O'Connor); daughter, Mary (Roger) Illg; sons, Michael and Philip (Carolyn) Crabbe. Grandfather of Aaron and Adam Ludewig, Gabriel Shalless, John W. Crabbe, Keith and Eric Illg, Julie, Ashley, and Elissa Crabbe; great-grandfather to Berit, Illg. Jack also leaves many relatives in the greater Burlington area. Visiting hours will be at Michael's Funeral Home, 800 South Roselle Road, Schaumburg, IL, 60193, from 4 to 8 p.m., on April 17, 2010, which will include a service at 7 p.m. A memorial service and burial in Vermont will be announced at a future date. Memorial gifts may be made to your local Hospice.
