KATHRYN A. GIFFIN - COLCHESTER - Kathryn A. Giffin, 78, a longtime resident of Colchester, died peacefully, surrounded by loving family, in Starr Farm Nursing Center in Burlington on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012. Kathryn was born in St. Johnsbury on Sept. 14, 1934, the daughter of Frank and Jessie (McNally) Aldrich. She graduated from Winooski High School and attended the University of Vermont. Kathryn was a member of the United Methodist Church of Milton. She was married at the Methodist Parsonage in Milton on July 10, 1954, to Roger H. Giffin, who predeceased her on Jan. 25, 2002. Kathryn was employed for many years as a dispatcher for the Burlington and Winooski Police Departments. She was also employed by Digital, and retired from IBM, and was a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially around the holidays. Kathryn is survived by her brother, Richard E. Aldrich and wife, Dorothy; niece, Paula Jackson; nephew, Richard H. Ravelin and wife, Elizabeth; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Doris Webb and Mary Ravelin; and brother, Robert Aldrich. Visiting hours will be at the LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St. in Winooski on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Milton Village Cemetery.
