NORMAN AUDET Obituary

NORMAN BERTRAND AUDET - BRIDPORT - Norman Bertrand Audet, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, March 20, 2015. Norman was born on Jan. 28, 1929, in Frampton, Quebec, son of Fortunate and Emerilda Audet. He grew up a farmer and a fisherman. He married his late wife, Mary-Rose Highter, in 1958. They bought Blue Spruce Farm that same year, where they raised their family and their family continues to reside. Norman was a hard worker and a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather. He spent most of his precious free time at home with his loved ones, but he did manage to go on trips to Rome and Hawaii. He spoke fondly of his travels. He and Mary-Rose spent several winters in Florida. He enjoyed walking on the beach, collecting sand dollars, and meeting people. In his later years, he enjoyed playing cards, putting together puzzles, tinkering with trains, and decorating for Christmas. But mostly, he lived for visits with his family over a glass of rum and Coke. He diligently documented the good times in pictures. He leaves behind a treasure trove of photo albums. Norman is survived by his five children, Eugene Audet and wife, Marie, of Bridport, Ernest Audet and wife, Melissa, of Bridport, Earl Audet and wife, Nora, of Bridport, Emerilda Rachad and husband, M'Hamed, of Morocco, and Elaine Desforges and husband, Brian, of Bridport; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Lauretta Brisson of Shoreham; brother, Magliore Audet of Orwell; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary-Rose; brothers, Alonzo and Leandre (Curly); foster daughter, Donna Tanner; and daughter-in-law, Diane Bilodeau Audet. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at 1 o'clock in the afternoon at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. William Beaudin as the celebrant. The family will have a burial at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home. Online condolences at www.sandersonfuneralservice.com. Cousins,
The family of Shirley (Highter) Mitchell and Charles Mitchell feels your sorrow. Losing a parent is so tough: and their age (or ours!) doesn't make it any easier. We can all remember many fun times visiting you on the farm. Kevin fell asleep while trying to "help" you milk in the am. We all had great times at your lake house and fighting over the tire float. May your many wonderful memories of your Dad carry you through this difficult time until you meet again.

It saddens me that I didn't stop by to get a tour from Norman he invited me to the farm while watching the tractor pulls at the Essex fair the last two years. I felt so honored to sit with him and talk about the farm and his family he was so proud of were it has gotten to. You could see the glow of light coming from him while talking and then when his grandsons got to the line he was so proud. He was concerned about the Green colored tractors!! that were there he wanted them to be beat.
I will miss him at the fair and I am sure he will be missed at the farm but now I am sure he has a Big Red tractor and a hole string of show cattle in the heavens that he is resting in.
He will be missed but never forgotten.

Addison County has lost a Dad, Brother,Grampa,Uncle just to name a few. I, in trying to remember how long ago it was that I met Norm came up with about 35 years. What an amazing man !! He and Mary-Rose bought a farm, raised a family and look what they as a family have accomplished. I tried to get to Field Days every year and knew if I did , I would be catching up on all the gossip with Norm. The last time I saw him at Field Days will be forever in my Heart ! Addison County also lost a Friend and a very special one he was ! Heaven has got a little brighter and I will be looking for your Star ! I am Honored to have called you my friend . My thoughts are with the whole Audet Family. Sincerely, Lynn Pope
