PAUL MENARD Obituary

PAUL JUDE MENARD - SOUTH BURLINGTON - Paul Jude Menard, 71, died at his home on Sunday, June 24, 2012, after a courageous battle with Lymphoma. He was born in Winooski on March 4, 1941, the son of the late Marcel and Madeline (Brosseau) Menard. Paul graduated from Rice Memorial High School, served in the Merchant Marines and later became a Master Electrician working for several area companies, including IBM. He was married to Linda Forcier on Oct. 1, 1966, in Christ The King Catholic Church in Burlington. Among Paul's many interests, he especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, metal detecting, vacationing in Hampton Beach and Orlando, Fla., with his wife, daughter and grandchildren, annual hunting trips with his son, Jay, and endless early morning rides for coffee. The family would like to give special thanks for their special care and kindness to Dr. Barbara Grant, NP. Paul Larson, the Oncology Team at the Fletcher Allen Health Care, Brenda Neil of Hospice and his best friend, Phil Bovia, and their many endless conversations about hunting, shooting and many other interests. Paul is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda (Forcier) Menard of South Burlington; his daughter, Wanda (Menard) Barrett and her husband, Todd, of South Burlington; his son, Jay Menard of South Burlington; two grandchildren, Hunter and Brooke of South Burlington; his sister, Audrey Gracey and her husband, Dick, of South Burlington; two brothers, Carl Menard and his wife, Carol, of Underhill and Alan Menard; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Jean Therrien and Arnell Gero. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at 10 a.m. in St. Jude Catholic Church in Hinesburg. Interment will follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery in South Burlington. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. in Ready Funeral and Cremation Service, South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Rd., in Burlington. I have fond memories of Mr. Menard from 25 years ago. He's one of the SB parents that had to put up with a lot from us as we were teenagers. Though he may not have always been, he showed us great amounts of patience. His sense of humor and quick wit were unmatched and he had an ability to fix just about anything we brought to him that we'd broken.
My thoughts are with you Wanda and Jay. Your dad was a great guy and I assure you that his memory will live on in me.
Blessings to you all.
