Dr C . Was my biology teacher at Burlington High in 1965. He was a soft spoken man.... always positive. My first inspiration to go into science.... ultimately my doctorate in psychology and 40 years as a clinician for children and their families. I am indebted to Dr C. and I pray for him and his family, especially,Pete's family. Love , Bill Cunningham

Dr. Chiaravalle was one of my most favorite Professors. I was one of his students at JSC in the mid 70's and loved his classes and his famous field trips. He was an inspiration to me and I will remember him fondly. Lee Winchester Hadley, NY

The Chiaravalle Family would like to thank everyone for the condolences and sharing memories of our father, husband, grandfather, friend and mentor "Dr. Phil". We appreciate the stories of the unique ways Dad touched others' lives while he pursued his passions- people and plants. Another passion was food, and many kind folks kept us amply supplied! One of the cards encapsulated what we hope others will take from Dad's life:
"The beauty of a Life well lived never dies. It continues to embrace and inspire us".
May Dad's life inspire others to live more fully, love more deeply, and always look for ways to help others.

Dr Chiaravalle was my biology teacher when I attended Johnson. One summer he talked me into working for him part time in his landscaping business. We had a lot of fun working together and he was always finding the joy in the simplest things. He will be missed by many. My best to his family. Holly Kochalka

As graduates of JSC, we were both privileged to have been students of Dr. "C" and he became a dear friend of the Bailey Family. My prayers are with 'Dr. C' and his entire family. He was a most inspiring biology teacher at Burlington High in 1965!

Rosemary and I also arrived at Johnson State College in 1966 and met Phil and his wife at our very first faculty get-together. He was a wonderful colleague and a delight to be around.

Dr. Chiaravalle was a gem. Just last week he sat in my office giving me helpful gardening tips; it's hard to believe he is no longer with us. What a kind and gentle soul. He will be missed by so many in the Johnson State College community. He made our campus a more beautiful place, literally and figuratively.

My deepest condolences at the loss of your husband, father, and grandfather.
Dr. Phil was a man of honor, kindness and deep faith. I had the pleasure of knowing him since my days as a student at JSC, as a Morrisville Rotarian, and very recently as an advisor to The Manor where he generously gave of his time to help us with our landscaping needs.
I always enjoyed his humor, his stories of New York. of his time in the military, and of you, his family.
What a dear man and human being.
I am truly saddened at his passing. He will be missed. And my gardens will always have a memory of him in it.

Dear Ginny and children,
My most sincere sympathy is extended to you, your children and grandchildren. I have many fond memories of "Dr. C" at JSC. ~~white lab coat and polished black shoes~~ While I was the departmental administrative assistant, Dr. C would always bring donuts to share with our Friday mornings coffee time. He would only fill his cup 1/2 full which enabled him to come back many times for refills.
