Richard "Ricardo" Sexton

Age: 76 • Burlington/Essex

Richard P. Sexton, 76, unexpectedly went to be with his Lord on Monday, Oct. 24, 2016 at UVM Medical Center. He was born in Burlington on Oct. 30, 1939 to William J. Sr. and Alice (Provost) Sexton. He was employed for several years with Marriott Food Service at UVM. For the last 18 years of his life, Ricardo lived with his best friend, Brett Thompson, where he was immediately adopted and loved by Brett's family, who will miss him dearly. Every year, Richard enjoyed going to his sister, Jeanette's house and visiting his nieces and nephews. He leaves 2 sisters: Jeanette Bushell of Charlotte and Judy Sexton of Brandon, his partner and best friend, Brett Thompson of Essex Jct., many nieces, nephews and grand and great grand nieces and nephews and 2 special cousins: Patti Racine and Joan McCarty and extended family. The family wishes to thank the UVM/ICU doctors and nurses and the staff of Specialized Community Care who all helped keep Richard comfortable.

Visitation will be on Thursday, Nov. 3, from 9-10:30 a.m. at Elmwood-Meunier Funeral Home, 97 Elmwood Ave. Burlington. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Co-Cathedral. Interment will be in New Mount Calvary Cemetery. Those wishing may send a memorial donation to Specialized Community Care, P.O. Box 578, East Middlebury, VT, 05740.
