STEVEN BOUTIN Obituary

STEVEN D. BOUTIN WILLIAMSTOWN - Steven Douglas "Boot" Boutin passed away Jan. 11, 2011 unexpectedly of natural causes in the comfort of his own bed. Born Jan. 21, 1954 to Leo and Mary (Beaupre) Boutin Jr. of Williston. Raised on what was once called West Oak Hill Road, he grew up learning the value of hard work and appreciation of nature. Steven graduated from CVU, class of 1972. He started out as a young man and father twisting wrenches, then went on to take up the plumbing trade. A journeyman plumber of Local 693, he was employed by RTH Mechanical of N.H. Steven was a true NASCAR and local track fan; loyal to Earnhardt Sr., Chevrolet and "Bud Hill" at Thunder Road. His life was spent doing what he wanted; often in the great outdoors, being a good steward of the land. He enjoyed helping out his friends, using his sawmill, four-wheeling, fishing, hunting, swimming and camping. His two favorite places on earth were his family's farm, where for years he produced maple syrup, and a camp owned by the Mungeon family in Chelsea. Steven was predeceased by his father, Leo Jr.; his grandparents, Leo Sr. and Winifred (Terrier) Boutin; and grandfather, Howard Beaupre. He leaves behind his maternal grandmother, Loretta (Gratton) Beaupre; his daughter and grandson, Trudi and Jacob Boutin; and his mother, Mary. The eldest of nine children, he is also survived by his siblings and their spouses, Kevin and Alba, Leo III and Mona, Monica, Michael, Tina and Dean Gallison, Loretta, Kimberly and Harold Lewis, and youngest brother, Gary and fiancée, Julie. Steven was also the proud uncle of 16 nieces and nephews, great-uncle of two, with two more due this summer. There will be a memorial service held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011 at Gifford Funeral Home, 22 Depot Street in Richmond.

Dear Dad, wish you were here... I've got a long list of things to do. You have my promise that some wishes do come true, you had wanted to do so much. I will work hard and do my best in your honor. I've met and spent time with some of your friends & union brothers, I was always worried when I couldn't be there that you were lonely, feeling unloved... but now I know you had some wonderful people in your life who you meant so much to. There are many things I want to say to them and to our family, but I have struggled to find the words. My heart knows and eventually the time will come when I can. The important things, things that needed to be said, I said to you in life and for now, that is enough. I read a quote the other day, something that Earnhardt Sr. had said. It made me happy & brought on tears because I know it is how you want those of us left behind to see things right now... he said, "You can't let one bad moment spoil a bunch of good ones." Memories live forever, you will always be with me and Jacob. I love you~

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time and my friend will be missed. Boot you will be sadly missed at camp. I will remember all the good times Joe and I had with you going out in the woods getting fire wood for camp and the bomb fires we built. Every time we build a bomb fire I will remember all the stories and laughs we shared. Now you will be a picture on the wall and we will never have as good a meal cooked on the wood stove as you did for us. Now we all will just have the stories of you to remember for years to come.Joe and I will miss you greatly as we go out to get wood it will not be they same with out you. We will meet again when I leave this world and share all the old and new stories that we will have to tell.Take care of us and guide us we need it.Love ya Mars

Daffodils in pots that I cannot forget
Nodding their cheerful faces in the sunlight like a friend just met, and yet…

Maples dropping their colorful leaves, sap running through lines like veins
Boiling and boiling again, sweet maple coming forward like yarn spun into skeins, and yet…

Creedence, Zeppelin and Bruce playing on the stereo over and over again
You sang along with them and she would smile at your attempt at being a rock legend, and yet…

Time came and went, memories ebb and flow like the ocean
We try to grasp the water but we are left with the seas tears and emotion, and yet…

Daffodils in pots that I cannot forget
Now I plant them in the ground so they will see the next spring
Happy faces reminding me what good memories of you they will bring.

Its never too late to say sorry; it takes courage but its worth the effort. . It releases you. It enriches the other person and ennobles you. It gives you both a new beginning. When you called 6 yrs. later and left me a message & wanted to talk to make peace, to resolve, it took so little to do. Yet it meant so very much to me. If you know deep in your heart that its worth fighting for then fight, sometimes you're the only one who knows whats right. We all look at life through different eyes. There is no correct way, only the best way for us; our choices.
Life is what happens while you're busy making other plans.
There are many things in life that catch your eye.
But only a few will catch your heart and stay with you forever and ever.
Me.
