Glenna Hodge Obituary

Glenna McNeil Hodge, a resident of Spicewood, Texas, passed away Monday, January 27, 2025 in Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo, Mexico after suffering a massive heart attack.

She was born Glenna Jean McNeil in Freeport, Brazoria County, Texas on April 28, 1952 to Russell Allen and Hilton Lucille Cox McNeil.

Glenna graduated from Channelview High School in 1970, from The University of Texas with honors in 1995 and from The South Texas College of Law in 1998.

After receiving her Juris Doctorate she became a partner in a major Austin law firm before retiring to her farm in Burnet County in order to care for her ailing Mother.

She remained active in Burnet County and Texas politics until her death, continuing her law practice by performing primarily pro bono legal work and mentoring numerous young women in Burnet and Llano Counties.

She possessed the voice of an angel and was a gifted pianist, loved gardening and home remodeling, and any small animal that crossed her path. She was a gentle soul that was known to have never uttered a harsh word and was loved by all that she encountered.

On May 3, 1996 in Travis County, Texas she wed William Dana "Dan" Hodge, whose family had arrived in what was to become Burnet County in the 1850s.

She is survived by her husband, Dan, of Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo, Mexico, two sons, Barton Blair and Neil Christian Brosig of Spicewood, Texas, her grandchildren Kylie and Kai, her brothers, Robert Allen "Bob" and James Barton "Bart", and sisters, Sharon Leslie and Deanna Kaye, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life is pending.

What a most lovely friend Glenna was. She was always looking for a new challenge to accomplish and as always, it was done with perfection. Such a joyful inspirational dear lady whom I will miss greatly. Prayers continue for Dan, her children and grandchildren.

Glenna entered my life when we met on a Saturday at Strait Music Company. Fast friends, she was such a lovely and talented woman. That began a forever and treasured friendship. I am heartbroken as are all who loved her. She was a blessing that will always live in my heart.
