Margy Holleman House was born on January 31, 1953, in San Angelo, Texas, to Robert Wayne Holleman and Jeanette Holleman. She was blessed to enjoy 72 years on this earth, and passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, and in her lifetime, she wore many hats. In everything Margy said or did, she reflected a gentle spirit, a quiet determination, a ready intellect, an eye for beauty, the ability to create, and - most of all - a love for Jesus.
Margy was first a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, mother, and grandmother. No one was prouder or more protective of their family. She cherished her brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Aimee Holleman. She appreciated and was grateful for their love and support and enjoyed her nieces and nephews, Jessica Wilson, Lucas (Christine) Holleman, Jacob (Siera) Holleman, as well as many great nieces and nephews.
Margy's world was, however, completed and centered by her close relationship with her two sons, their wives, and children. Robert and Chelsea House and their children Waylon and Hollyn and Jon-Aaron and Magen House and their daughter, Madison, meant everything to her. Her "boys" as she called them brought her endless joy. They were attentive to and protective of their mother all her life, and nothing brought a smile to her face quicker than a story or visit from them.
Because everyone lived in Midland, those visits were frequent, filled with laughter and shared memories. Margy always orchestrated Christmas pictures in matching pajamas - something sure to bring a chuckle. Last summer, the boys reciprocated with a photo shoot at the beach, Margy standing in the center of the group - clearly her happy place. She never looked more beautiful.
Margy was an accomplished professional educator. Graduating from Cooper High School in Abilene in 1971, and McMurry University in 1975 with a degree in elementary education, Margy spent 35 years teaching in Texas public schools. Notably, she spent 20 years as a Project Think teacher in MISD's gifted and talented program. A founding member of that faculty, her skill at curriculum development and delivery helped to ensure the success of the program, and countless professional colleagues benefitted from her leadership.
After retiring from MISD, Margy joined forces with a former Project Think colleague and friend, Carolyn Hooper, and for ten years, they were the Lower School Science faculty at Trinity School of Midland. Their classroom was a happy place, one that piqued the curiosity and stimulated an interest in science on the part of hundreds of young students, including Margy's own grandchildren. They planted gardens, raised chicks, and were never afraid of the messy business of science.
Margy kept her friendship circle small, but if you were lucky enough to be her friend, that relationship was one to be cherished. Margy was a talented quilter, and countless friends and family received a gift of her artistry, as she was generous both with her love and her time. She was known for being the best listener, and if you shared something with Margy, she kept your confidence. She was both trustworthy and kind.
Margy will be especially missed by her childhood and lifelong friend, Becky Hester Chamness, of Abilene. The pair would retreat to Red River, New Mexico every summer to catch up and revive. Becky made many trips to Midland during Margy's yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer, and as a nurse, lent her care and knowledge in support of her friend.
Margy will be remembered fondly by her family, her Project Think crew, including her dear friend Cindy Mullins, the Lower School faculty at Trinity School, the children and families with whom she worked over a teaching career spanning 45 years, her Delta Kappa Gamma sisters, her First Christian Church community, and her cherished friends. God speed, sweet Margy, may you rest in the welcoming arms of Jesus.
A private graveside service will be held for Margy, honoring her life and legacy in the presence of her closest loved ones. In lieu of flowers, and to continue Margy's spirit of generosity and care, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth,
