Thelma Milam Obituary
Thelma Joyce Milam passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2025, in Marble Falls, Texas, at the age of 78. Born on September 9, 1946, in Burnet, Texas, to the late Glen D. Chism and Olivia Key Chism, Thelma was a lifelong resident of Burnet, Texas-a town she loved deeply and proudly called home.
She spent 18 years working at Sonny's Minimax, once the only full-size grocery store in Burnet, where her warmth, work ethic, and welcoming spirit left a lasting impression on coworkers and customers alike-all while raising her two sons and daughter with love and dedication.
Thelma was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and cherished friend. She shared 35 wonderful years with her soulmate and rock, Tom Milam, whose unwavering love and support formed the foundation of her later years.
Her family was her world. Thelma always provided a home with a soft place to land-along with a steady source of comfort, truth, and unconditional love. Her children and grandchildren could always count on her to share her warm heart, a sharp sense of humor, and often, a pot of her legendary chicken and dumplings.
She had the kind of laugh you never forget-bright, contagious, and always paired with a big smile that made you laugh right along with her. She loved telling stories, especially about her children, just to make her grandkids laugh (and occasionally make her kids blush). Her quick wit, competitive streak when it came to winning the family's favorite board or card games, and perfectly timed comebacks kept everyone on their toes -and brought them all a little closer.
Thelma carried a deep and quiet strength, especially in the face of heartbreak. After the loss of her youngest son, Buster, in 2023, her grief was profound-but so was her love, and the memories of Buster remained forever close to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Roland Buster Davis; great-grandson Elliott August Danger; brothers Bill and Jimmy Chism; and sister Helen Williams. We find comfort knowing she is now reunited with them in Heaven.
She is survived by her loving husband, Tom Milam; daughter Kay Goerner and her husband Robert of Spring, Texas; son Randy Davis and his wife Letty of Leander, Texas; daughter Janet Kamradt and her husband Micheal, daughter Cindy McCown and her husband Clayton; and grandchildren Chase Wilkinson and wife Kasey, Kyle Goerner and his wife Kennedy, Megan Danger and husband Tyler, Lauren Davis, and Hayden Davis and their mother Shauna. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren Dexter and Logan Moore and their father Jacob and his wife Anyssa; Alice Wilkinson; her brother Glendal Chism; her beloved lifelong friend, Ann Mooney, as well as many other cherished lifelong friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Thelma's life will be held on August 30th at 11 a.m. at Main Street Baptist Church, 401 N. Main Street, Burnet.
Although Thelma has left this world, her love, laughter, and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her.
May she rest in peace.
