DONNA MAE WRIGHT
Donna Mae (Couch) Wright, 90, of Augusta, KS, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025, in Ottawa, KS. She was born on Mother's Day, May 12, 1935, in a farmhouse two miles northwest of Colony, KS. She was the daughter of Raymond and Velda (Stout) Couch.
Donna enjoyed rural life and made several lifelong friends during her time in Colony. Following high school graduation, she moved to Humboldt, KS, and worked for the Humboldt National Bank. She met Leroy Wright, and they were married on January 23, 1955.
Over the next four years, Donna added to her family with a daughter and three sons. Donna moved with her family to Augusta, KS, in 1965. She worked various jobs with local businesses, including the Augusta Gazette, optometrists Whittaker, Crum, and Todd, and Sigma Tech Manufacturing. Donna loved to crochet and made many afghans for her children and grandchildren.
The family wishes to express its gratitude for the love their mother and grandmother exhibited through the day-to-day work necessary to nurture, care, and provide for both their spiritual and physical well-being.
Donna is survived by: daughter, Debra Glaze (James) of Beaumont, TX; sons, Keith Wright (Linda) of Houston, TX, Kirk Wright (Lavonne) of Ottawa, KS, and Kevin Wright of Manhattan, KS. She is survived by: grandchildren, Jason Glaze (Melanie) and great grandchildren, Grant and Alex of Baton Rouge, LA; Erin Glaze (Dustin) of Spokane, WA, Kaely Glaze (Kevin) and great grandchildren, Ethan and Vivian of Spokane, WA, Kristena Foxworth and great grandchildren, Adam and Sara of Acworth, GA, and Erika Brown (Ben) and great grandchildren, Kylie, Isaiah, and Caleb of Manhattan, KS, and great grandchildren, Anthony Wright of Houston, TX, Trista Wright and Jordan Wright of Wichita, KS, Jaston Wright of Topeka, KS, and Melia Wright (Ivan) of Augusta, KS.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leroy, her grandson, Jared Wright, and her brother, Gary Couch.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2025, and services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2025, all at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta, KS. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 1501 State Street, Augusta, KS 67010, where Donna had been a member for many years.
