Alvin Don Barkley
Alvin Don Barkley, 68, formerly of McBride Road in Harrisville, died at 9:45 p.m. Saturday at the home of his daughter, Dawna Chambers, in Parker.
Born in Butler, Oct. 12, 1937, he was the son of the late Don and Margaret A. Watt Barkley.
He attended Butler schools and served in the Army from 1953 to 1959, including 30 months in Germany.
Mr. Barkley was an owner/ operator tractor-trailer driver for most of his adult life.
His wife, Miriam Thompson Barkley, whom he married Nov. 25, 1961, in Chicago, died June 24, 2003.
In addition to his daughter, he is survived by a son, Mike Barkley of Polk; a brother, Gary D. Barkley of Texas; four grandchildren; and a step-grandchild. Three step-great-grandchildren also survive.
BARKLEY - Friends of Alvin Don Barkley, who died Saturday, July 1, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville. Funeral services and burial, with full military honors, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Greendale Cemetery, Meadville.

My sister, Miriam Thompson Barkley, loved Al deeply through thick and thin. He told me shortly before his death that his wish was to join her in heaven for a walk in the woods. I hope that wish came true.
