Barbara M. (Skurka) Daniels, 67, of Curtisville, West Deer Township, died Wednesday.
She was born Nov. 1, 1944, in Pittsburgh to the late Edward S. Skurka and Catherine E. (Baughman) Thorton.
Barb lived in West Deer all of her life, and she was a 1962 graduate of West Deer High School. She worked for the call center of J.C. Penney until it closed several months ago, and prior to that she worked at the Cedar Wood Personal Care Home in Russellton.
Barb was presently attending college to get her counselor's degree, hoping to counsel battered women. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, entertaining and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Melinda (Wilson) Rodriguez of West Deer, Laura Spondike of West Deer and Maggie (Mark) Daniels-Pazich of Worthington; her son, Danny Daniels of West Deer; her grandchildren, Justina, Devin, David, Carrie, Mia, Madison, Neena and Anna; her great-grandchildren, Briana, Isaiah and Mikayla; her sisters, Elaine McCune of Clinton Township, Diane (Jeff Perez) Norris of Russellton and Peggy (Robert) Ackerman of Clinton Township; and her brother, Edward (Marge) Skurka of Valencia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Phil Skurka; her niece, Sonya Wade; and her nephew, Keith Skurka.
DANIELS - Friends and family of Barbara M. (Skurka) Daniels, who died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township, where services will be at 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Township.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the funeral home to help the family with the funeral expenses.
