Carl Slear Obituary

In his true entrepreneurial way, Carl Arthur "Sputzie/Paw" Slear was a man who called his own shots, and after a brief illness, he chose Heaven instead of some lengthy hospital stay and died peacefully on Friday, April 8, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
If you knew Paw, you were blessed with his quick wit, engaging stories and life opinions; all of which you were subject to without notice! His world revolved around the light of his life, wife Nancy (our patient angel) of 58 years, family and all his friends he considered family. But, above all, he shared his love for Jesus Christ so that others could spend their eternity with Him.
All his entrepreneurial endeavors flourished into Keystone Ridge Designs, the 26-year-old business that created an amazing and talented family of bench-loving individuals that Paw cherished as if they were his own children. He loved business, its challenges and his mind never stopped. He was always learning, creating and mentoring others to achieve their dreams, involved behind-the-scenes trying to help so many individuals and organizations.
His talent as an amazing photographer showcased not only his world travels but the everyday moments of those people around him. And, as much as he achieved in this lifetime, his ongoing passion was to help youth become Christ followers. There never was a day that he didn't remind his family that their responsibilities are to carry on his legacy (ask any one of them).
Born on May 19, 1941, he was the son of the late Carl L. and Jane Black Slear.
Paw's family includes his wife, Nancy Dubuc Slear; children (in order of importance, or age, you decide), Heather (Dave) Starcher, Gretchen (Craig) Hunt, Artie (Stephanie) Slear, Josh (Charlotte) Slear; exceptional grandchildren, Taylor and Hannah Starcher, Megan, Mandy and Madison Hunt, Lucas, Zachary and Landon Slear; special animals, Malu, Tilly and Skeeter Slear; favorite sister, Harriet (Mike) Sanderson; countless relatives all around the world and all of those others that he loved as much as family (yes, if you're reading this and crying, you know he loved you). Words cannot say how much he will be missed.
SLEAR - Friends and family of Carl Arthur 'Sputzie/Paw' Slear, who died Friday, April 8, 2022, will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at THOMPSON_MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 East North St., Butler.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with a private burial to follow.
As much as dad loved flowers, he would ask for your support for the 4H/FFA kids through the Butler County Junior Livestock Scholarship Fund. Please make checks payable to Penn State Extension with the memo line to read 'Livestock Scholarship Fund' and mail to: Penn State Extension of Butler County, 101 Motor Pool Way, Butler, PA 16001.

Farewell Sputz,
we are all missing you.

Betty & Gene Daugherty

April 11, 2022

Betty and me send our love to each of you on Carl's home going. As Christ followers, we can laugh and cry at the same time knowing our loved one is absent from us, but present with his Lord. And the memories spur us on to carry on his unique legacy. Carl Slear was a special person who was a dear friend to the two of us. Since we do not live close to you, it was always a light and humorous adventure when we interacted. We thank The Lord for the time we shared with a special guy. God Bless each of you.
