Charles Cranmer Obituary

Charles Everett Cranmer Jr., 84, of Butler, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 12, 2024.
"Chuck" was born on Nov. 11, 1939, in Butler, and was the son of the late Charles E. Cranmer Sr. and Mabel (Rider) Cranmer.
In 1957, he graduated from Butler Senior High School
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Prospect.
"Chuck" owned and operated Cranmer's Farm Dairy in Mount Chestnut from 1960 to 1978. In 2017, he retired from the County of Butler as a real estate appraiser after 25 years.
Brother Cranmer's Masonic career spans 35 years, receiving his Entered Apprentice Mason Degree in March 1980 in Butler Lodge 272. He has held four presiding offices in York rite, to include Worshipful Master in 1989, High Priest in 1990, Thrice Illustrious Master in 1991, and Eminent Commander in 1994. Brother Cranmer is also a member of the Knight Masons, St. John's Conclave, the Red Cross of Constantine and the Syria Shrine, and a life member of the Royal Order of Scotland. In 1996, he was awarded the Knight of the York Cross of Honor.
Brother Cranmer served the Valley of New Castle as Most Wise Master in 1996, Sovereign Prince in 2000, and the Treasurer of New Castle Consistory from 2001 until the spring of 2015. He served in the Wardrobe Department for 15 years. In 2006, he received his MSA and received his 33rd Degree in 2009.
Over the years, Chuck served the Butler Farm Show as vice president and president and as a member of the farm show board of directors.
As a member of the Blackwood Arts, Harrisville, and Allegheny RiverStone Center for the Arts' Lincoln Hall, Foxburg, Chuck enjoyed many musical events involving the Theatre Pipe Organ.
He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Joyce Marie (Horne) Cranmer, whom he married on June 27, 2002; his children, Kenneth (Linda) Cranmer of Butler, Cheryl Cranmer of Slippery Rock, LeaAnn (Jack Christie) Cranmer of Slippery Rock, and Scott Cranmer of Slippery Rock; his three grandchildren, Erin (Brian) Knutson of Wisconsin, Shawna (Curt) Pitman of North Carolina and Andrew Cranmer of Butler; his 10 great-grandchildren; his brother, Terry Cranmer of Butler; and his brothers-in-law, William (Jackie) Horne and Roy Allan Horne Sr.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary Lou (MacFee) Cranmer, who was the mother of his children; as well as his son, Richard B. Cranmer.
CRANMER - Friends and family of Charles Everett Cranmer Jr., who died Friday, July 12, 2024, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler. A Masonic funeral service will be held at 6:30 p.m., prior to the evening visitation.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Jeff Curtis officiating.
A private interment will follow at Mount Chestnut Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Chuck's memory to Shriners Children's Erie, 1645 W. 8th St., Erie, PA 16505.
