David L. Aeberli, 80, of Sewickley, formerly of McCandless Township, died on Monday evening at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born in Pittsburgh on July 12, 1937, he was the son of the late Robert and LaVergne Huggins Aeberli.
A funeral director, Dave was the former owner of the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home in Mars.
He was the former president of West View Savings Bank board of directors, was a charter member of the Rich-Mar Rotary Club and was a member of John E. Mair Lodge 729 F&AM and other affiliated Masonic Orders.
David was the husband of Carol Naser Aeberli; father of Susan Aeberli of Walnut Creek, Calif., Karen Cortez (Ernesto) of Springfield, Va., and Kristen Martin (Michael) of Portland, Ore.; grandfather of Sebastian and August Cortez; brother of Sarah Lehew of Valencia; brother-in-law of Mary Ann Naser (Bob) VanNewkirk of West View, and Bill (Barb) Naser of N.C.; also many cousins, nieces and nephews and great- nieces and nephews.
AEBERLI - Friends of David L. Aeberli, who died Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, are invited to a reception in celebration of his life from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Friday at the Treesdale Golf and Country Club, 1 Arnold Palmer Drive, Gibsonia.
Arrangements are under the direction of the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave. Mars.

Dear Carol
We are so very sorry to hear of Dave's passing. Our prayers And sympathies are with you and your daughters at this most difficult time. Even though we are at a distance, he was always such an interesting and caring man when we were together. He had an extraordinary knowledge of Pittsburgh ( a city he really loved ) and enjoyed sharing it with others. And we loved that!

When my family moved to the North Hills of Pittsburgh many years ago, we were very fortunate to live right next door to the Aeberli Family. And before long, I became the girls' babysitter. I remember many great and fun times with the girls, Carol and Dave.......such wonderful neighbors and friends.
I would like to extend my heartfelt sympathies to Carol, Susan, Karen and Kristen.
Dave was a wonderful person, neighbor and friend.

All of us at Antique Center of Strabane are heartbroken. Dave was a true gentleman and a wonderful person. We so enjoyed the years he was part of our family. He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.

Dear Carol, Susan, Karen and Kristen,
I am so sorry about Dave's passing. I feel like I have lost a family member. He took on many roles for me and my family.
He was a father, uncle and brother to us. Always there to help and of course harass me. A great neighbor and friend. I am so glad you had a family get together for his 80th. He will be sorely missed. My prayers and thoughts for you. I have no doubt he is already causing havoc up there in heaven. Love you guys

I knew him only as his life was winding down, but he did not wind down. He was a constant source of joy and laughter even in the hardest time. He, and his family, deeply impacted many members of his medical care team. We are all grateful to have been a part of his life. With many prayers for your loss. JG
