Gary Cypher

1957 - 2025

Gary Cypher, of Cabot, passed peacefully surrounded by family Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, at 3:43 p.m. in Marwood. He waited until his children reunited with him before slipping away to the sound of laughter and storytelling. Like at many gatherings, everyone almost missed seeing him leave.
Gary was born on Oct. 14, 1957, and was the son of Mary Jo (Rimel) Cypher and Donald P. "Jake" Cypher. He spent his early years at The Pike Restaurant, which his parents owned, playing softball and helping run the bar. He worked for John W. Throwers at its Cranberry Township plant for 40 years. He happily retired in 2018 and enjoyed activities like not working.
He is greatly missed by his children, Gary Cypher II, Alysha Cypher and Tye Cypher; and daughters-in-law, Christina Cypher and Michelle Clay. He has four wonderful grandchildren, Makenzie, Jacob, Arden and Laine. He is also survived by his niece and nephew, Nicole Pettigrew and Frankie Petrusik; great-nieces, Evelyn and Lorelei; friend and cousin, Johnny Cypher; and favorite ex-wife, Debbie Pastoria.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Cherie Cypher; his brother-in-law, Frank Petrusik; his mother, Mary Jo; and his father, Jake. We hope Jake was the first to greet him on the other side.
While our Dad kept his circle of people small in his later years, those lucky enough to have known him know that his love felt like a great story, hysterical laughter, a dirty joke said too loudly in public, and getting more pocket money than requested.
CYPHER - If you have a good story about our Dad, Gary Cypher, who died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, join us from 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at the Field House on 356. We will spread some of his ashes on the softball fields around 7 p.m. Appetizers will be provided and desserts are welcome.
