Georgia Todd Obituary

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Georgia Sommariva Todd, of Harmony, formerly of Butler and Williamsburg, Va., Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, after a beautiful and inspiring life.
Born March 26, 1945, in Butler, she was the youngest of five children of the late George Schnur and Marcella Geibel Schnur.
An excellent student, Georgia graduated from Butler High School in three years with the goal of becoming a physician. Although she ended up taking a different path, she persisted in dedicating her life to caring for others.
Widowed for the first time at the age of 35 with four young children, she entered nursing school. This intelligent, dynamic woman and mother tirelessly rose through the ranks of the nursing profession, eventually serving as Director of Nursing at Riverside Hospital in Williamsburg, Va., for more than 30 years. Georgia was an influential leader and mentor who embraced caring for both patients and the nurses for whom she was responsible. Her professional legacy still lives on today, as she implemented and oversaw the Ask a Nurse program in Virginia.
Georgia's passion for travel brought her to most of the states in America and many European countries. She visually documented all of her journeys for countless cherished memories. Another passion was dance; dancing nourished her soul.
Georgia is survived by seven children, Marcia Sommariva, Gene Sommariva, Jay (Shelli) Sommariva, Rosemary (Eric) Harvey, Michael Todd, Michelle (Jim) Convery, and Lisa (Mark) Picchi; seven grandchildren, Ashley Sherman, Reagan Sommariva, Paulina Sommariva, Andrew Todd, John Todd, Tyler Picchi, and Brooke Picchi; two brothers, James Schnur and Dess (Bernadette) Schnur; one sister, Beverly McAnallen; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph L. Sommariva, who unexpectedly passed away in 1982, as well as her second husband, Ronald Todd, who passed away in 2010; one brother, Dale E. Schnur Sr.; and two sisters-in-law, Nancy Schnur and Linda Schnur. Georgia remained brokenhearted following the unfortunate deaths of two grandchildren, Joshua Harvey and Justin Harvey.
We thank The Seasons of Saxonburg and Monarch Hospice for the excellent, compassionate care they provided to Georgia.
TODD - Visitation and services were private for Georgia Sommariva Todd, who died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025.
Burial took place in St. Michael's Cemetery, Butler.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, South Side, 429 Center Ave., Butler.
