Janice Louise Croyle
Janice Louise Croyle, 76, of Kittanning Street, Chicora, formerly of Karns City and Emlenton, passed away at 6:19 p.m. Monday at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Lorrie and Dan Lassinger of Cabot.
She was born in Emlenton, Venango County, on March 10, 1934, and was a daughter of the late Raymond D. Sollinger and Dorothy Tietsworth Sollinger.
She was a graduate of the Emlenton High School Class of 1952 and for more than 50 years was a member of Church of God of Prophecy in Karns City.
She enjoyed crocheting and knitting and was especially fond of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was employed as a stenographer with Fairchild Aircraft for one year in Hagerstown, Md., and then joined the WAVES, taking her basic training at Bainbridge, Md., and then was stationed at San Diego, Calif.
She is survived by four daughters and their husbands, the Rev. Valinda Custer and Thomas of Waynesburg, Jeanette Shreffler and Martin Sr. of Cranberry, Venango County, Susie Barger and Randy of Petrolia and Lorrie Lassinger and Dan of Cabot; three sons and their wives, Randall Croyle Jr. and Patti of Clearwater, Fla., Danny Croyle and Darla of Chicora and Jeffrey Croyle of Eaton, Ind.; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Shoup of St. Cloud, Fla., Virginia Kyle and her husband, William, of Monaca and Wilma Wolfe of Knox; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James Sollinger and an infant brother, Ray Sollinger; an infant sister, Sandra Kay Sollinger; her former husband, Randall Croyle Sr.; one daughter, Tammy Croyle; and a granddaughter, Shannon Croyle.
CROYLE - Friends of Janice Louise Croyle, who died Monday, May 24, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home in Petrolia. Visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Karns City Church of God of Prophecy. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with former pastor, the Rev. Roy Tilton officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Chicora.
