Jeffrey W. Weems, Sr., 70, of Swoyersville, passed away Friday, Aug. 29, 2025, at his home with his loving family by his side.
Born in Jamaica, N.Y., he was the son of the late Douglas Weems and Ingaborg and Joe Cohen.
Jeff was a graduate of Hempstead High School, N.Y., and then graduated from the New York Institute of Technology with a degree in accounting.
Prior to his retiring 7 years ago, he had worked for the Bemis Corporation as its plant controller for over 20 years.
Jeff Weems was an avid golfer who never missed a chance to hit the links and was a lifelong supporter of all New York sports teams. He carried a deep passion for Penn State football and St. John's basketball, cheering on his teams with unwavering loyalty. Above all, Jeff adored his grandchildren, finding his greatest joy in time spent with them.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, the former, Elizabeth ( Betsy) Menta; and children, Danielle and her husband, Jim Dugan, Boyertown; and Jeff and his companion, Melanie Blaski, Kingston; grandchildren, Hadley Mornhineway and Jackson Dugan; and a sister, Carol and her husband, Paul Orlando, Medford, N.Y; brothers-in-law, John ( Holly) Menta, Swoyersville; and William Menta, Wyoming; sister-in-law, Susan Marseco, Luzerne; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Gubbiotti Funeral Home LLC, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.
A blessing service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday.
