John Cianchetti Obituary

John Joseph Cianchetti, 75, of Butler, passed away peacefully at his home in Jensen Beach, Fla., on Thursday, March 17, 2022, in the arms of his loving wife of more than 50 years.
John was born in Meadville on Sept. 27, 1946, to John and Jennie (Deletto) Cianchetti. He was the youngest of four children, Donna Hitz of New York City, Janice Mesler of Morristown, N.J., and Erma Wilson of Warren, Ohio.
He grew up in Meadville and graduated from Meadville Senior High School class of 1964.
After high school, John worked for Reviley Marine in Erie, and eventually earned an apprenticeship with the Operating Engineers Local Union 66. John served for six years in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard as signal noncommissioned officer. He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed boring holes in the sky!
John met his wife at Johnny's Drive Inn in Meadville, and started a family and raised two boys, Matt and Brian. John's focus in his younger years was his work, in which he helped build hundreds of buildings, parks, bridges and highways in Western Pennsylvania for Leonard Excavating and Deer Lakes Excavating.
He was an avid amateur radio operator (K3SYP), camper and worked his hobby machine shop in the basement of his mother's home. In 1993, he moved his family from Meadville to Butler. John retired in 1998, and began spending his winters in Jensen Beach, Fla.
John enjoyed fixing just about everything, collecting tools and ham radio equipment, along with helping family and friends with any project they may be working on.
Although John was a quiet man who mostly kept to himself and family, John will always be remembered as a man that would always help you out, someone you could depend on and someone to offer you a cup of coffee and kind words.
John is survived by his wife, Kathy of Butler; two sons, Matt (Jennifer) of Butler, and Brian of North Abington Township; his grandson, Jared; his granddaughter, Jennie of Butler; one great-granddaughter, Charlotte; his three sisters, Donna, Erma and Janice; and his brother-in-law, Fred Mesler of Morristown, N.J .
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jennie Cianchetti of Meadville; and his brothers-in law, Ernest Hitz of New York City, and Joseph Wilson of Warren, Ohio.
CIANCHETTI - A service for John Joseph Cianchetti, who died Thursday, March 17, 2022, followed by a meal are both being planned at their community in Florida.
A service is being planned for May in Butler, and will be announced at a later date.
