John Howryla
John Howryla, 86, of Home Avenue in Butler died Wednesday at the Butler Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Born March 24, 1921, he was a son of Harry and Bessie Banza Howryla.
He was a World War II veteran of the Coast Guard and was a life member of the American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora.
Mr. Howryla worked in the silicon department at Butler Armco for 43 years until his retirement in 1984.
He was an active member of SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Lyndora. He volunteered as a perogie worker and at church bake sales. He also worked with Cub Scout Pack 49, which was sponsored by Armco.
He was a true family man and enjoyed gardening and bowling for years. He was a member of the Armco Veterans Club.
His wife, Marie Stewart Howryla, whom he married June 10, 1950, survives him.
Also surviving are two daughters, Pamela Howryla Cajka and her husband, John, of Butler, and Roxann Howryla Newell and her husband, Dennis, of Butler; a son, John A. Howryla and his wife, Pamela, of Ford Cliff; two grandchildren, Kelsie Cajka and Ross Newell, both of Butler; a sister, Mrs. Anna "Ruby" Miller of Mt. Chestnut; two brothers, Michael and Harry Howryla Jr., both of Butler; and several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
HOWRYLA - Friends of John Howryla, who died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services and entombment at Butler County Memorial Park will be private.
Memorial donations may be made to the Lifesteps Geriatric Program, 383 New Castle Road, Butler, PA 16001.

Memory Eternal ! I'll sure miss John and his light hearted demeanor at Pirohi and Bake Sales. I pray for John and also for Marie who has gone through quite a lot along side her husband during this difficult journey. With thy saints give rest O Lord, to the soul of your servant John where there is no pain, nor sorrow, nor suffering, but life everlasting. Vich 'na ya Pam yat!

Marie and Family,
I am so sorry for ur loss.
It has been many years. My Parents Rene and Norma Pellegrini. Losing a loved one is so very hard, I have had a lot of loss myself, with mom and Dad, and My husband Jim passed away in January 2006, very sudden, it was a real sad time for me and my children and their families.
Again Marie I am so very sorry for ur loss, is so very hard to lose someone u have loved for so many years. Please take care, same for ur family.
