Keith E. McDougall
Keith Edward McDougall, 80, of 198 Diamond Road in Pine Township, Mercer County, died at 11:20 p.m. Saturday at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, due to injuries he suffered in an automobile accident on Oct. 8.
Born May 14, 1925, in Pine Township, he was the son of H. Oscar and Melda P. Witherup McDougall.
A lifelong resident of Pine Township, he was a 1943 graduate of Grove City High School and attended Grove City College.
He was the 4th-generation farmer of his family farm in Pine Township and retired in 1987, after 40 years at Cooper Energy Services, formerly Cooper Bessemer, of Grove City.
During World War II, he served with the Army 4th Infantry Division from 1944 to 1946 and received the Purple Heart. He was an active member and past president of the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the 4th Infantry Division Veterans' Association; and along with his wife, he attended the 35th anniversary of the D-Day invasion in Europe with his infantry group.
He was an active member of the East Main Presbyterian Church of Grove City, the church where he was baptized.
Mr. McDougall served the community in many ways. He was a member of the Pine Grove Community Center Board of Directors, a volunteer for the Grove City Meals on Wheels and a past president of the Grove City AARP chapter.
He also was a Pine Township supervisor for 12 years, was a past president of the Mercer County Association of Township Officials and a member of the Mercer County Joint Sewer Commission. He was active in the development of the Grove City Sportsmen's Club and was a member of the Grove City VFW Post 519.
He enjoyed hunting and other outdoors activities, especially family visits to Clear Creek State Park. He also enjoyed traveling, visits with his many friends and providing homemade cookies to his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Mary Orr McDougall, whom he married June 25, 1949; a son, Edward Lynn McDougall and his wife, Janet, of Grove City; a daughter, Margaret J. "Peggy" Grande and Richard Hooch of Grove City; two sisters, Lois Orr of Greenville and Jean Cornelius of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Clifford M. and Joyce McDougall of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Clayton L. and Lorraine McDougall of Mount Vernon, Ohio, and Lynn D. and Felicie McDougall of Richmond. Ind.; and a sister-in-law, Ruth McDougall of Grave City.
He also is survived by four grandchildren, Jill and Thomas McDougall and Andrew and Whitney Grande, also David, Tonya, Timothy and Richard Bouch, all of Grove City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John W. McDougall, and an infant sister, Alice.
McDOUGALL - Friends of Keith Edward McDougall, who died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City. Visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in the parlor of the East Main Presbyterian Church and services will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. Grove City.
Memorial contributions may be made to the East Main Presbyterian Church, 120 E. Main. St., Grove City, PA 16127; or to Meals on Wheels, c/o Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 319 Columbia Ave., Grove City PA 16127.
