L. Doerr Obituary

L. Christine Doerr
L. Christine (Zielinski) Doerr, 61, left us peacefully and walked into God's arms at 7:35 p.m. Tuesday with her adoring family by her side at the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit in Cabot after a brief but courageous battle with brain cancer.
Born March 13, 1947, in Germany, she made her way with her family to the United States when she was a very small child and settled in Butler. She since then educated herself, fell in love, had her own family, gave everything of herself unselfishly and touched many lives around her.
After graduation from Butler High School in 1965, Chris worked hard at Nationwide Insurance, American Hardware, Pullman Standard and the Butler School District and finally retired from the state after 17 years of dedicated service with the Kittanning and Butler Pennsylvania State Police as a PCO.
Chris was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
She loved and was so devoted to her family. She loved spending every minute she could fit into her busy day with her grandchildren, whom she adored. She loved her card club and friends. She loved her pool and Myrtle Beach. She loved going for walks. She loved to laugh. She loved people and was sincere in every conversation she had with them. She was thoughtful and kind and had such a way to make everyone feel comfortable and included. She was so giving of herself, caring and such an amazing woman to all who knew her.
She is survived by her beloved husband, George P. Doerr, whom she married April 15, 1967; two proud and admiring daughters, Traci and Mark Laffey of Seven Fields and Tiffany and Jay Tonini of Butler; five darling, prized and loved grandchildren, Makenna, Marin, Kelin, Giavanna and Georgi; her mother, Mrs. Anna Zielinski of Butler; and three brothers, Stan Zielinski of Butler, Ed Zielinski of Pittsburgh and Rick Zielinski of Butler.
She was preceded in death by her father, Stephen Zielinski.
DOERR - Viewing for L. Christine (Zielinski) Doerr, who died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Thompson/Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church with entombment at the Calvary Mausoleum. Members of the St. Paul Guild and Christian Mothers will recite the rosary at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation of the United States, 302 Ridgefield Court, Asheville, N.C. 28806.

George,Tiffiany, and Tracy,

You don't know me but i worked with your mom from the time she started at PSP butler untill her retirement. You mom was a great lady, and could always make everyone smile with just her soft spoken words and her humor. The last time we spoke was the day she retired. I regret that I found out to late of her illness, One thing I know you mother is now in the arms of our Lord, and making him smile as she did so many people. I'm sorry I was unable to make it to the funeral home, but I'm taking care of my wife who just had surgery and working midnight. Know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. I only met your dad once at a retirement party, but I felt I knew both of you girls and your children just from your mom..Her whole life revolved around you guys. she will be missed. Please know that you our all in my prayers, and know that she is watching over you, untill you all together again. 1 more thing, I know I am a better person for having the pleasure of knowing your wife and mother.

To The Doerr and Zielinski famlies,
My heart goes out to all of you. I was so shocked that this happened so quickly. Being a neighbor as a young girl, I watched as she was a wonderful daughter and a devoted and caring sister, to marriying George, became a wonderful mother and a great grandmother. She will be missed my many. But know that you all are in my prayers. And let the memories of Chris last you a lifetime of pleasureful moments.

With Deepest Sympathy,
Babs

George, Tracie & Tiffany,
We are so sorry to hear of Chris's passing. It's really hard right now to think this could be a good thing, but like Butch, it's a blessing that they are not suffering when there is no hope of getting back to the way they would want to be. Thinking of this can make it all a little easier. Chris will be missed by many, but I know it's going to be toughest for you and the grandkids! She is in my thoughts and prayers.
