Larry David "Junior" Vasbinder

Larry Vasbinder Obituary

Larry "Junior" David Vasbinder, 73, of Stuart, Fla., previously from Butler, was called to be with the Lord, most likely to serve as jester or gate greeter at 5:10 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, Fla.
He was born in Butler, June 13, 1944, and he graduated from Butler High School in 1962.
Larry was retired from CVS/Caremark and was previously employed by the Butler Eagle in the circulation department for many years. However, he would always say, "Occupational hazard be my occupations just not around" as quoted by his favorite tune.
His favorite job was being Pap to Jason, Falon and Gannon; and great-Pap to Lizzy. He was also a loving husband and partner to Carlen Vasbinder for 40 years. He was the father to Heather Brown and Shanon Blystone.
Larry was the oldest of four and is survived by his siblings, Roger (Patti) Vasbinder of Butler, Carol (Scott) Weger of Ravenna, Ohio, and Kathie (Tom) Rankin of San Diego, Calif. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Shirley (Larry) Rearick and Barbara (Phil Cortez) Wojton, all of Stuart, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald C. Vasbinder and Carol J. Vasbinder-Keck.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserves and studied at Capital University.
He was of athe Lutheran faith. Larry was also a member of American Legion Post 62 in Stuart, Fla.
He was an avid sports fan and was always rooting for Pittsburgh teams first. He loved music and a good conversation. He adored the game of baseball and played Strat-O-Matic Baseball for over 40 years. The roll of the dice will always be a well-known sound to his family. Larry would be your one call for that all-important trivia question, regardless of topic. If you knew him, you loved him and he would love you right back. He just had that kind of personality.
He chose to donate his body to science or as he would say "science-fiction" in hopes he would be able to save others from metastatic melanoma.
A celebration of life reception will be held in the future in Stuart, Fla.
Special thanks for medicinal cannabis and immunotherapy for extending his life and to Treasure Coast Hospice for assisting in comforting us all at the end of his life.
Until we meet again "I feel like I've drowned, but I won't wear a frown."
