Lynda Brooks Jackson (Lynda James) of Cedar Grove, N.J., formerly of Valencia, passed away on Feb. 23, 2022, after a courageous battle with a prolonged illness.
Lynda was born in Butler, on July 8, 1947, and was a 1965 graduate of Mars High School in Mars.
She earned a B.A. at the Career Academy in Washington, D.C, at Georgetown, and became a certified medical assistant.
Later she worked as a booking agent for the Banner Talent Agency in New York City, where she met her husband, Thomas (aka Tommy James) in 1972.
Lynda is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Thomas; her sisters, Marcia Brooks Norton of Mars, Candice Wallingford of Honesdale, Pa., and Dawn (John) Wilbern of Evans City; and her stepson, Brian (Patty) Jackson. She is also survived by, and was known as "a loving Nana" to, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert (Bud) Brooks; her mother, Jeanne Brooks; a brother, Robert Brooks; and a sister, Jodi Brooks.
JACKSON - Friends of Lynda Brooks Jackson (Lynda James), who died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022, may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.
Funeral services and burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MS Center at Holy Name Medical Center, 718 Teaneck Road, Teaneck, NJ 07666.

I met Linda and Tommy at Crossroads Church in Passaic, NJ
Linda was my youth group teacher in the late 70´s early 80´s.
She was such a wonderful person. I never forgot her. Tommy would come to our house and sing and play music with my parents.

So sorry for your crushing loss,I too lost a partner of 25 years in May.Tragic heartbreak and separation caused by inevitable death is the biggest test of faith So we try.

I met Lynda when Tommy was playing the Newport Hotel in Sunny Isles Beach (Florida). She and Tommy invited myself and my friend (the late Larry Stang - who was doing a solo act in the Newport's Rhum Room) to join them for company while they and the band got a bite to eat after the show at a restaurant across the street from the hotel.

We (Tommy, Lynda and I) started playing "record trivia"... and by Christmas of 1974 I'd received a holiday card from them with an inscription Lynda added to the greeting card that said "What big hit did Jill Corey have"?

At that point, she had stumped me, but Larry knew the answer... "Love Me to Pieces"!

May she rest in peace... and mmay Tommy take comfort in knowing that he was fortunate enough to have been married to her for 50 years - an incredible feat for a musician, much less anyone else!

03-20-22 - Earlier today I heard the news about Lynda on Tommy's SiriusXM show. Heartfelt condolences go to Tommy and their circle of family and friends. It was a year ago that I lost my beloved Rick. We had such a longtime and profound bond -- I know the ache of such a tremendous loss will forever remain with me -- but I turn to our loving memories for peace, comfort and strength. I hope you are able to do the same as you mourn and grieve. Losing someone who was your life's everything is quite painful. Rick and I shared so much, including an eclectic taste in music. He is the one who encountered Tommy's show on SiriusXM's 60s channel and introduced me to it. Each week we'd look forward to tuning in. ~ I wish peace and healing to all.

So many wonderful memories of a 65 Mars grad, from the Cooperstown dances to Walters Store to the high school across from her home. She must have a loving family who supported her so well. My sympathies.
