Margery S. Terwilliger

Margery S. "Marge" Terwilliger, 96, of Route 268, East Brady, Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County, a lifelong well-known Sugarcreek Township resident, went to be with the Lord on her husband's birthday, early Saturday morning, June 22, 2024, at Sugarcreek Rest.
Margery was born Sept. 24, 1927, at home on Kittanning Hollow Road in Sugarcreek Twp. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Savilla Harmon Hiles.
Margery was a 1945 graduate of East Brady High School; she was the last surviving member of her class. She went on to earn an associate degree in dietary management from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Marge was a lifelong active member of St. Paul's Community Church in Sugarcreek Township where she was baptized. She had served the church as a deacon and elder.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband, William E. "Bill" Terwilliger, whom she married at St. Paul's Reformed Church on June 12, 1948. Mr. Terwilliger preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 1999.
In her early years, she taught Head Start at Cowansville. She was an election poll worker in Sugarcreek Township until age 90 and made her first mission trip to Argentina at the age of 81. Marge enjoyed cooking, entertaining, hosting parties and playing trivia. Marge was welcoming to all visitors, and her house was always open to guests. She served on the board of directors of Central Electric Cooperative and was president of the board for several years. Marge was the recipient of the Miracle Mile Eminent Service Award from the Pennsylvania Rural Electric Association in 2011.
Surviving are three children, Cynthia L. Wetzel of Butler, Nancy Lendyak and her husband, Tom, of East Brady and Daniel Terwilliger and his wife, Marianne, of Butler; eight grandchildren, Curtis J. Wetzel and his wife, Amy, of Allison Park, Jeffrey L. Wetzel of Butler, Amanda Miner and her husband, Adam, and Zachary Lendyak and his wife, Lindsay, all of Ft. Mill, S.C., and Grace Burkhardt and her husband, Kevin, of Lucinda, Olivia Terwilliger of Gibsonia, Daniel Terwilliger of Baltimore, Md., and William Terwilliger of Butler; 12 great-grandchildren, Julia, Beck, Ike, Knox, Mia, Carson, Ethan, Harper, Iva, Chase, Paige and Jackson; a sister-in-law, Kay Terwilliger of Renfrew; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jim Wetzel; her sister, Maxine Korb and Maxine's husband, Richard; and her brothers, Jack Hiles and Jim Hiles and Jim's wife, Carole; as well as a number of other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
In accordance with her wishes to be an organ donor, her pacemaker will be donated to a veterinary specialty clinic to give a dog a new 'leash' on life.

TERWILLIGER - Friends of Margery S. "Marge" Terwilliger, who died Saturday, June 22, 2024, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at HILE FUNERAL HOME of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Community Church, 2167 SR 268, Chicora.
A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. from the church with the Rev. Frank Sapp, church pastor, and the Rev. Raymond Ichler, pastor, of East Brady Presbyterian Church, co-officiating.
Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
