Martha Gozion Obituary

Martha (Fortuna) Gozion died of natural causes in her home in Allison Park on Dec. 12, 2022.
She was born on Sept. 20, 1932, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Sam, who died in 2014. They were married in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1953.
She was the mother of ReBecca of Oakland, Calif., Pamela (Chuck) Kress of Forest Hills, Pa., Mark (Serena) of Jefferson Hills, Pa., Thomas of Valencia and Ellen (partner James Herbert) of Wilkinsburg.
She was the grandmother of Kevin and Elisabeth Kress, Allison (Charles) Smith, Kye Gozion and Timothy Gozion.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph Fortuna and Mary (Pucell); the sister of Betty Godnavec (Stan deceased), and the following deceased, Frank, Mary, Aloise (Carroll) Dunne, Agnes (George) Hoffman, Joseph (Virginia), Julius (Lois) and Thomas (Marge). She was "Auntie Martha" to many nieces and nephews.
Martha was born into a large and fun-loving family on East 82nd Street in Cleveland, Ohio, and she held a lifelong love for the close-knit Slovenian neighborhood in which she spent her early years. She attended Jane Addams High School, where she excelled in garment making, and after leaving school, she worked as a seamstress at Richman Brothers Company.
As a young adult, she was an avid dancer. She grew up dancing the Slovenian polka and loved the jitterbug. She was also a high-scoring bowler with beautiful form.
In 1964, Sam was transferred to Pittsburgh and the family settled in Allison Park. Martha enjoyed the friendships of many in her neighborhood.
She was an inventive and creative person, skilled in portraiture, garment and costume making, baking, cake decorating and gardening. Her best self was energetic, industrious, resourceful, gregarious and honest. For over two decades, she and Sam vacationed at their trailer in Holden Beach, N.C., enjoying the sun and the company of friends.
GOZION - Funeral Mass and interment in Cleveland, Ohio, are to be arranged for Martha (Fortuna) Gozion, who died Monday, Dec. 12, 2022.
