Michael D. Hennessey, 68, of Cranberry Township, passed away on Jan. 8, 2022, while in the care of Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford, and after a 10-year struggle with early onset Alzheimer's disease.
Michael was born in Bridgeport, Conn., and was the son of the late Howard and Victoria (Janeski) Hennessey.
Michael leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 39 years, Ellie, and his son Eryn; his sister, Patricia (Doug) Shoals of New Hampshire; his brother, Howard (Sandy) Hennessey of Georgia; many, many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws; and also his Grand Rapids, Mich. friends, the Jimenez, Lanza and Sui families.
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen V. Hennessey.
Michael will be remembered for his gift of conversation, sense of humor and positive attitude. Michael lived his professional life traveling the world and using his multiple language skills. His family will remember the Christmas ornaments from his many visits overseas. When doing this work was no longer possible, Michael went back to work in a deli, as he did so many years ago in Westport. Even though his travels took him away from the U.S. on many occasions, Michael always stopped to visit with his mom and dad on the way back from his South America travels, and to see his friends from college and graduate school when in Europe.
His life mantra, as he said so many times, was the three FFFs - faith, family and friends. Michael was an avid golfer and, later in life, a skier; and he loved to dance. He danced with friend, Pam, at the Glass Slipper Ball; took Eryn and many of his friends skiing in Killington; and was known to try out golf courses all over the U.S., and even during a trip to Thailand.
