Nicholas Sichak Obituary

Nicholas J. "Nick" Sichak, 84, of Lyndora passed away Saturday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
Born on June 16, 1929, in Lyndora, he was a son of the late Andrew Sichak and Justina (Sheptak) Uram Sichak.
Nick graduated from Butler High School in 1948. He then worked in the weld shop for the Armco Steel Plant in Butler for 40 years, retiring in 1988. He also owned and operated Buddy Nick's Bar in Lyndora for more than 30 years.
He was a member of the St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora, the Slovak Club, the American Legion Post 778, the Roman Catholic Men's Club, the Italian Club and the Highfield Community Center.
Nick was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, following the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins. He enjoyed boating, as he was one of the original dock owners at Moraine since the lake's opening.
A veteran of the Korean War, Nick served as a radar operator for the U.S. Army as Specialist 4th Class.
Surviving are his daughters, Nicole (Paul) Slomer Jr. of Butler, and Alison Smith and Mike Dixon of Butler; his son, David (Petrina) Sichak of Wexford; his seven grandchildren, Michael, Alex and Julianna Slomer, Jeralyn, Madelyn and Jamison Smith, and Nicholas P. Sichak; his two buddies and good friends, Dave Todd and Mike Parison, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores M. "Dolly" Sichak, who he married on Sept. 1, 1962, and who died on July 4, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his six brothers and sisters, as he was the last surviving of seven children in his family.
Sichak- Friends of Nicholas J. "Nick" Sichak, who died Saturday, May 10, 2014, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 105 Kohler Ave., Lyndora, with the Rev. Leo Schlosser, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Butler.
Parastas services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
