Otto Ned Schiberl
Otto Ned Schiberl, 68, of Emlenton died at 9:36 a.m. Wednesday at his home after a long illness.
Born May 31, 1938, in Creighton, he was the son of the late Otto Oden and Agnes Yappel Schiberl.
He was an Air Force veteran and had served most of his duty in Alaska.
Mr. Schiberl was a traveling manager for the Thorofare Super Markets in Pennsylvania for years. In 1968, he and his wife bought the former Red's Bar in Emlenton and changed the name to Otto's Tavern. Since their retirement, the ownership has continued under the same name and is solely operated by the Schiberl family.
He enjoyed operating a logging and excavating business for years. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was a member of the VFW and Moose Lodge in Astor, Fla., and the Elks Lodge in Franklin.
He was a Catholic.
Surviving are a daughter, Holly Schiberl-Ielase of Emlenton; three sons, Otto "Buster," Melvin "Buddy" and Darryl Schiberl, all of Emlenton; and nine grandchildren. He also is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Joe (Dolores) Gotto of Beaver Falls and Mrs. Bob (Agnes) Rudge of Florida; and a number of nieces and nephews.
His wife, Thelma Pritts Schiberl, whom he married Feb. 20, 1960, died Feb. 11, 2002. He also was preceded in death by a son and a grandson.
Schiberl - Friends of Otto Ned Schiberl, who died Wednesday, May 23, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, Main Street/Route 38, Eau Claire. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with his brother-in-law, Joe Gotto, officiating. Burial will be at the Emlenton Cemetery.
