Phyllis A. Schraf
Phyllis A. Schraf, 79, of Butler died Thursday at her home.
Born on Sept. 29, 1933, in Johnstown, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Rerko and Agnes (Puhulla) Rerko.
She graduated from West Penn Nursing School in Pittsburgh and worked as a nurse anesthetist for West Penn Hospital and then at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Her passion was her dogs. She operated Curtain Call Collies, where she bred champion show collies as several of her dogs she owned had achieved champion status. She was a member of the Butler Dog Training Association, where she started its therapy dog group, the Butler County Kennel Club, and the Collie Club of Western Pennsylvania.
She was a member of the St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
Surviving are her children, Lynn Schraf and her husband, David Gilbreath, of Pittsburgh, Leslie Dudik and her husband, John Dudik, of Apollo, Mark Schraf and his wife, Jeanne Schraf, of Morgantown, W.Va., and Allison Schraf and her husband, Jim Nelson, of Ann Arbor, Mich., and six grandchildren, Ben Dudik, Josh Dudik, Eileen Dudik, Morgan Gilbreath, Zachary Schraf and Kaylee Schraf.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Schraf, who she married Aug. 30, 1958; he died Dec. 14, 2009.
Schraf - Friends of Phyllis A. Schraf, who died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, North Main Street Extension, Butler. The Rev. James Salberg will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Butler.
