Richard Moloy Obituary

Pittsfield – Richard Ewart Moloy, 84, of Pittsfield, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Concord Hospital after battling end-stage renal disease for five years.
He was born October 24, 1940, in the Fieldston section of the Bronx, NY, youngest son of Dr. Howard C. Moloy and Elizabeth (Metzger) Moloy. Richard spent his formative years at Riverdale Country School, where he excelled in soccer, was graduated from St. Lawrence University, Class of 1962, where he was a member of the St. Lawrence University Singing Saints, and received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Ohio State University. He was a devoted Buckeye for many years. Happy days were spent at White Oak, the Connecticut home belonging to his grandfather, noted chemist F. J. Metzger, and numerous summers in Thedford, western Ontario, enjoying farming life with his father's family.
He was employed as a pharmacist for many years, purchasing Green's Drug Store in Pittsfield from Al and Babe Jenisch, and later employed by Hannaford Brothers in Ossipee until his retirement. Richard will be remembered for his kind heart and his big smile, especially evident in his thoughtfulness to his customers at his beloved Green's, and through his love for his family.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife, some favorite places including Tuscany and French Polynesia. He loved to paint, "especially the trim," was known for keeping things lighthearted, and he thoroughly enjoyed a good laugh. Puzzles, both jigsaw and crossword, kept his mind and competitive side (with his wife) active and he was an avid sports watcher. His most memorable times were summers spent with his family at Suncook Lake, where he developed a keen interest in the lake's loon population, observing their aquatic life, while listening intently to their cries of joy and woe.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Peter and Floyd.
He is survived by his wife, Martha (Daroska) Moloy of Pittsfield with whom he shared 25 years of marriage, his children, Edwin Moloy and his wife, Sarah, of Salem, MA, Wendy Moloy of Chichester, and Graham Moloy and his wife, Lucie, of Toronto; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Kun and her husband, Keith, of Wilmington, MA, five grandchildren, Callum, Bergen, Lillian, Archer and Allison, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Richard's life will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 12 Noon with a service at the Roan Family Funeral Home – Still Oaks Chapel, 1217 Suncook Valley Highway, Epsom. Friends and family are invited to begin gathering at 11:30AM. Interment will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family at Floral Park Cemetery in Pittsfield.
