Robert Gerald Ferringer

1934 - 2023

Robert "Bob" Gerald Ferringer, 88, of Butler, passed away May 27, 2023, at Fairview Manor Rehabilitation Center in Fairview.
Born on Aug. 6, 1934, in Franklin, he was the son of the late Percy and Josephine Lawson Ferringer.
Bob graduated from Rocky Grove High School in 1952 and Grove City College in 1957. He was accepted and attended the Philadelphia School of Optometry for one year.
In 1997, he retired from the Wattsburg Area School District in Erie after teaching math for 40 years.
He was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Union City, and then Meridian Presbyterian Church in Butler.
He was previously a longtime resident of Union City, where he once served as the mayor. He belonged to the civil service, Juvenile Diversion Program, and the Gideons. In his younger years, he did volunteer work with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America, Junior Chamber of Commerce and the museum, and he coached Little League Baseball for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Gumpp Ferringer, who he married on June 10, 2017; four stepchildren, Jim Raisley of Slippery Rock, Randy Raisley of Wexford, Carla (Jim) Osborne of Butler and Sherri (Reggie) Barnet of Meridian; four children from a previous marriage; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Donna Holden Ferringer; two sisters, Beulah Krepp and Jolene Miller; one grandson; and one daughter-in-law.
FERRINGER - A remembrance service for Robert "Bob" Gerald Ferringer, who died May 27, 2023, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Meridian Presbyterian Church, 4150 N. Highland Ave., Butler, with his pastor, the Rev. Stephen M. Franklin, officiating.
RAISLEY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, is assisting the family at this time of loss.
The family invites all attendees to join them for the luncheon in the church social hall following the service.
