Dr. Roy H. Schmitt

1941 - 2026

Dr. Roy H. Schmitt, D.C., 84, of Mars, passed away Saturday afternoon, Feb. 21, 2026, in the comfort of his home with his wife at his side.
Born in Pittsburgh on March 12, 1941, he was the son of the late Ray and Margaret Salasek Schmitt.
Roy was a member of the first graduating class of North Allegheny High School in 1960. He graduated from National College in Lombard, Ill., in 1965, and was a board certified orthopedist.
Roy was a longtime Mars chiropractor and owner of Mars Chiropractic and practiced for 43 years.
He was a past president of the Mars school board and had served on the board of directors of Penn Mar Plaza.
He was a member of the Mars United Presbyterian Church and was also a member of John E. Mair Lodge 729 F&AM and the Syria Shrine and Consistory. He enjoyed trapshooting, fishing and cars.
Surviving are his wife, Janice Nicklas Schmitt, whom he married July 30, 1988; two daughters, Dana Schmitt and Linda Stanell, both of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Janine Jones, of Middlesex Township; a sister, Lynn Mason, in Florida; a nephew, Gary Massimino (Mary), of Hampton Township; a niece, Lynn Mason, in Florida; and his sister-in-law, Alliene Lees (Jim), of Mars.
SCHMITT - At his request, all arrangements for Dr. Roy H. Schmitt, who died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, are private under the direction of MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mars United Presbyterian Church.
