Samuel Sapar Obituary

Samuel Sapar
Samuel Sapar, 82, formerly of Duffy Road, died Sunday at the home of his daughter in Chicora.
He was born Aug. 25, 1927, in Butler, a son of the late Stefan and Mary Wasko Sapar.
Mr. Sapar was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.
Sam worked in the paint department at the Pullman-Standard Car Co. in Butler for 35 years, retiring in 1978.
He was a member of the St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora and of the St. John's Men's Club. He also was a member of the Moose Club and the German Club in Butler.
Sam enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, puzzles, bingo and reading. He especially enjoyed raising and racing pigeons. Since 1999, Sam never missed a weekend watching his son Darrin's pigeons come home from a race.
His wife, Martha Minner Sapar, who he married March 2, 1957, survives him. Also surviving are his children and their spouses, Laurie and Larry Ball of Chicora, Darrin and Dena Sapar of Butler, Duane Sapar of Philadelphia, and Tammy and Robert Carbin of Butler; 10 grandchildren, Mandy Reges, Jennifer Perry, Derek Burns, Dana Kearns and her husband, Josh, Ryan Ball, Marissa, Stephanie, Justin, Dillon and Ashley Sapar; and a brother, Michael Sapar of West Sunbury. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.
Six brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
SAPAR - There will be no public visitation. Funeral services for Samuel Sapar, who died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, will be at noon Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora with Abbot Leo Schlosser, pastor, officiating. Cremation services are provided by the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
