Sharyn Carlquist Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Sharyn (John) Carlquist, 72, who passed away on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2024, at her home in Boyers.
Sharyn was the daughter of the late Eugene and Pearl John. She graduated Moniteau High School in 1970, and after graduation, Sharyn dedicated many years to the Harrisville Drug Store. She later continued her career at USIS in Boyers.
On May 29, 2004, Sharyn married her longtime partner, Douglas Carlquist. Together, they enjoyed attending races as well as escaping the cold Pennsylvania winters by spending time in sunny Florida.
Her entire life, Sharyn was known for her love of cooking, and for the warmth she extended to others. Her home was a place where everyone gathered, and anyone who crossed her threshold was welcomed with open arms, a delicious meal and a heart full of love. Whether it was a holiday feast, a casual visit, or for a drink on the patio, Sharyn had a remarkable ability to make anyone feel like part of the family.
Sharyn is survived by her sister, Kathy (David) Tinker of Emlenton; brother, Raymond John of Boyers; nephews, Matt (Jennifer) Smith of Arlington, Va., Micah (Nedal) Smith of Boston, Mass.; great-niece and great-nephew, Ava and Aidan of Boston, Mass.; son, Douglas (Kendra) Carlquist of Latrobe; and granddaughter, Olivia Carlquist of Latrobe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Carlquist.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone for their love and support during this difficult time.
CARLQUIST - A celebration of life for Sharyn (John) Carlquist, who died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2024, will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Butler Humane Society, butlercountyhs.org.
The Young family, of WILLIAM F. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, West Sunbury, has assisted with arrangements.

Kathy, Raymond, Matty, Micah and family

Words cannot describe how sorry we are for your loss. We can´t imagine your pain and grief of having to say goodbye to Sharyn. We were reminiscing of all the good memories of Sharyn and lo and behold Winterwonderland came on the radio! This was Joe and Sharyn´s song that they performed at a Sunday school play when they were 8 and 6 years old. They never forgot it and would more times than not talk about it when they saw each other. Sharyn touched so many lives and will be surely missed. We are praying for you all as you struggle with this immense loss. All our love...Joe and Chris DeMatteis and family

Gene John, Sharyn's father was a very, very close friend of my father and Gene was like a brother to me. Sharyn always stayed in touch with me at Christmas and on email. She will be remembered by me at Mass on Sunday and always be in my morning prayers as is her Father, Gene is.
