Thomas Armstrong Obituary

Thomas E. Armstrong, 67, of Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County, Grove City, passed away Wednesday morning at his home of natural causes.
He was born on Jan. 31, 1948, in Grove City to the late Robert Armstrong and Mary Christy Armstrong.
He retired from Cooper Energy Service, Grove City, where he worked in the foundry.
A veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, Tom was stationed in Thailand.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 220, the VFW Post 519 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1895, all of Grove City. He was also a member of ABATE (Alliance of Bikers Aimed Towards Education) in Mercer, Venango and Allegheny counties.
Tom enjoyed, traveling, playing pool, fishing, riding his Harley, car racing, and riding his quad.
Survivors include his daughter, Elizabeth "Elaine" Armstrong-Evans of Grove City; his two granddaughters, Cassandra Armstrong and Kylee Hedglin, both of Grove City, and his two sisters, Patricia Stewart of Grove City and Jeanne Maynard of Michigan.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Armstrong and Mary Tipton.
Armstrong - The family of Thomas E. Armstrong, who passed away Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, with the Rev. Stephanie Thompson, chaplain of Orchard Manor, officiating.
Memorials in Tom's memory may be made to any local organization that benefits veterans.

Please accept our sympathy for your loss. Although we didn't know Tom closely, mostly through motorcycles and ABATE, and hadn't seen him in some years we were still saddened to hear of his passing. I remember him always smiling with a hearty "good to see you again" greeting. He was the kind of person you could bump into somewhere on the road, spend a few minutes sharing a tale and a couple laughs to catch up, and part with a hug or a hand shake and the day was just a little brighter for having shared that bit of time with him. R.I.P. (Ride In Paridise) Tom.
