Walter O. Dunlap

Walter O. Dunlap, 70, of Butler passed away Monday at VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born July 27, 1945, in Tuskegee, Ala., to Ethel (Tanner) Dunlap and the late Walter J. Dunlap.
Walter was a Butler High graduate and then went to Youngstown State University, where he received his bachelor's degree in business.
He was the third generation to work in the family business of Black and White Express in Butler, which his grandfather, Clarence J. Dunlap founded. Walter worked in the business from the age of 12 until it closed in 1996. He then went to work for the U.S. Postal Service, where he was a supervisor.
He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity; Delta Nu Alpha, a transportation professional fraternity; the American Postal Workers, AFL-CIO; Pittsburgh Metro Area Postal Workers Union, AFL-CIO; International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and Elks Lodge 170.
Walter was an avid sports fan. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Butler.
He is survived by his companion of many years, Kathleen Andreassi; one son, Joshua Dunlap and his wife, Laura, of Butler; two daughters, Ivory K. Dunlap of Butler and Kayla E. Haynes and her husband, Ryan, of Butler; four grandchildren, Braydon Hoffman, Colin Hoffman, Vivica Dunlap and Carter J. Haynes; his mother, Ethel Dunlap of Butler; one sister, Diane McDavid of Farmington Hills, Mich.; her nephew, Chris McDavid and his wife, Stefanie; and one great-nephew, Tommy C. McDavid of White Lake, Mich.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his infant sister.
DUNLAP - Friends of Walter O. Dunlap, who died Monday, May 9, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Floyd L. Palmer of Shiloh Baptist Church and the Rev. Dr. Richard Arnold, Walter's cousin, officiating.
