Alexis Martinez Obituary

Alexis Anthony "Buddy" Martinez, 20, a lifetime resident of Freer, Texas, died Saturday, May 3, 2003 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was a graduate of Freer High School Class of 2001 with honors in the top 15 of his class. He was active in playing football and was the receiver for the Freer Buckaroos. He also served as Vice President of his Senior Class and was very well liked by everyone, during the summer he served as a lifeguard at the swimming pool He was currently enrolled in his second year of college at Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi, Texas. Buddy is survived by his parents, Frank and Debbie Martinez of Freer, Texas; four sisters: Denise Marie (Freddy) Garcia and Lisa Marie (Jaime) Espinoza both of Freer, Texas, Francis (Jason) Guerrero of San Antonio, Texas and Nina (Ronnie) Perez of San Diego, Texas; paternal grandparents, Alejandro "Cano" Martinez and Benita T. Martinez both of San Diego, Texas; maternal grandparents, Antonio R. and Mary C. Reyes of Freer, Texas; nieces and nephews: Victoria Alyssa Garcia, Gabriela Reann Garcia, Liliana Celize Garcia, Marina Capri Carrillo, Cameron Guerrero, Kristian Guerrero, Reynaldo Perez III and Matthew Frank Perez; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at the Garza Funeral Home in Freer, Texas. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at the Garza Funeral Home in Freer, Texas with Bro. Reymundo Renobato officiating. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2003 at the First Baptist Church of Freer, Texas with Brother Tim Walshe officiating. Burial will follow at the Hahl Memorial Cemetery in Freer, Texas. Active pallbearers will be Anthony Garza, Jacob Cantu, Oscar Villarreal, Aaron Rangel, Michael Saenz and Daniel Cantu, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Oscar Cantu and Rick Vela.
