Amalia Valdez Obituary

Amalia Balarin Valdez, 89, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 24, 2008, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was a life long resident of Corpus Christi and was preceded in death by her parents Leon and Simona Balarin, her husband Armando F. Valdez, her sister Maria Gauna, her brother Martin Balarin, and her son Jesus Valdez. She is survived by her nine sons and four daughters; George (Elverda) Martinez, Joe (Dollie) Valdez, Carlos (Maria) Valdez, Mary Valdez, Juan (Margarita) Valdez, Dicky (Elida) Valdez, Ruben (Gloria) Valdez, and Yolanda (Max) Gonzales, Dora (Ernesto) Jasso, Alberto R. (Lupita) Valdez, David Valdez, all of Corpus Christi, Texas, and also Armando (Yolanda) Valdez Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, and Olivia Cantu of Lakeland, Florida. And a very special family friend, Yolanda Anciso. She is also survived by her brothers Leon (Antonia) Balarin and Ramiro Balarin, and her sisters, Tomasa Hernandez, Angie (Joe) Alvarez, and Margarita (Adolfo) Espinosa, 39 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and 10 great, great grandchildren. Visitation will begin on Friday, November 28, 2008, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Rd., at 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service and Rosary recited that evening at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Pilar, 1101 Bloomington, on Saturday, November 29, 2008, at 10:00 a.m., with a procession leaving the funeral home at 9:30 a.m., Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
