Arthur Boss Obituary
Arthur Boss
Kingsville, Texas
Arthur Howell Boss Sr., "Art", 78, a 47 year resident of Kingsville, Texas, went to be with his Lord on January 27, 2017 after a sudden struggle with congestive heart failure. While in the hospital, he had his 57th wedding anniversary to his beloved and devoted wife Barbara, and had his 78th birthday.
Art left threee sons, Dr. Art Boss, Jr., DDS of Corpus Christi, Texas, Stacy Boss of Kingsville, Texas and Dr. Michael Boss, DC and his wife Jodi of Boerne, Texas. He was a devoted father who loved his wife and sons deeply. He was especially committed to coaching Little League baseball through 13 years with his sons and 9 years with his grandsons. Art attended every sporting event possible that his sons and grandchildren played. He was their harshest critic and their biggest fan, always offering a hug and encouragement. He supported his entire family through life, education, parenting, and in their professional lives with his great wisdom, advise and support. He was happiest when he was with his family. Art left five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart. His grandchildren are Leah Boss, RN of Corpus Christi, Texas, Devin Boss, RN of Houston, Texas, Dylan Boss, CPA and wife Jordan and their daughters Violet and Adelaide of Boerne, Texas, Cade Boss of Boerne, Texas and Kamryn Boss of Boerne Texas. He is also survived by his sister, Ginger Plumlee and husband J.D. of Del City, OK and their children, and his brother Bud Boss and wife Kathy of Pawnee, OK. Art was a member of the First Christian Church in Kingsville.
Art was born January 19, 1939 in De Berry, Texas and raised in Pawnee, OK where he grew up loving sports and the outdoors. He was always a hardworker and began his own paper route business as a grade schooler. He starred on the first high school state championship football team in Pawnee history.
He passed on his toughness and shared his love of sports with his three sons. His boys fondly remember his love of the games as they played 2 on 2 against each other with their dad. Art taught his boys the importance of the commitment to excellence and loyalty. Art, Jr., Stacy and Michael would especially like to express their love and appreciation to their dad for teaching them all that he did and spending so much time with them. He showed and taught them his competitive nature and love of sports and outdoors. Art was an avid hunter and golfer and even began constructing his own golf clubs and made them for others in the Kingsville community.
After high school, Art joined the Navy to serve the country he loved and learned his lifelong occupation as a dental laboratory technician. He moved Barbara and his boys to her hometown of Kingsville, Texas, and established his own business in 1970, Boss Dental Ceramic Laboratory, which his son Stacy still operates 47 years later. In January 2017, the Texas Dental Association honored Art for being a Certified Dental Lab Technician for 50 years which very few have achieved in their life time.
Art Boss Sr. loved his wife Barbara. He spent every day with her and showed his sons that their mother was a special lady. Art was a man of few words, a man of little expression, a man that rarely expressed emotion, which is why he wanted no funeral and no memorial service. He was a man whose face expressed it all when he saw his grandchildren. He didn't say it, but if you were present, you saw it and felt it. He was a man filled with true love, with dedication, with commitment, with support, and a man who would break his back to help all those that he loved. He was a great man and a great Dad. He will forever be truly loved and missed.
