Audrey Ellzey-Ticer Obituary

Audrey Elizabeth Ellzey-Ticer died Saturday, March 29, 2008 in New Orleans, LA. She was born on May 18, 1965 in New Orleans. Even though her life began and ended in the same city, she lived most of her life elsewhere. For much of the last 30 years she lived in Corpus Christi, often visiting her mother on the Mississippi coast. She attended Brown Middle School, then King High School, where she graduated in 1983. In 1992 she won a competitive scholarship to Smith College in Northampton, MA, where she flourished and graduated with a B.A. in music and English in 1995. After graduation she worked as a research assistant and editor for the High Performance Learning Center where she helped develop several books by best-selling author Michael Gelb. Audrey returned to Corpus Christi in 1999 and established her own editing and publishing business which she operated successfully for the next few years, developing such books as News to Me by Juliet Wenger. In 2005 she married Bernard H. Ticer, an attorney in New Orleans and relocated permanently there. She was a world traveler and incredibly creative across a wide spectrum of the arts, having won awards starting at age 11 in painting, music, writing, and even sand-castle building. She loved music, nature, children, books, and most of all, people. She is survived by those who loved her including her husband, her father, Roy S. Ellzey of Corpus Christi, her mother, Susan H. West of Gulfport, MS, her stepmother, Sheri Phillabaum, her brothers Clifton R. Ellzey and Jacob M. Griffin, aunts, uncles, numerous other relatives, and her many, many friends the world over. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 11:00 am at the UU Church of Corpus Christi, 6901 Holly Rd., Corpus Christi, TX 78414 In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the UU Church of Corpus Christi and designated for the Audrey Ellzey memorial.
