Barbara Sprott Obituary

Barbara SprottCorpus Christi, TXBarbara was the daughter of Henry Marshall Read Sr, and Oma Turley Whitton Read. She was born in Paris Texas, the youngest of eight children. She lived an amazing life, telling tales of the great depression, working alongside German Prisoners of war in North Texas in World War II and moving to South Texas to raise four children. Barbara worked in the offices of Dominic Rich D.O. for over 20 years as a medical assistant. She loved the ocean air of Corpus Christi and insisted on returning there as her home each time life would take her somewhere else. She loved to read and would pour through books faster than anyone could buy them. She was amazingly social and despite losing her eye sight, stayed connected to family and lifelong friends from her Paris childhood. Her phone was always busy when you tried to call. Barbara loved Mexican food, and a good party. Family and friends came from far away each year for her birthday celebrations. She is survived by her four children Kathy Elaine (Chris) Carpenter, William Bradley (Lea), Mathew Read (Joanne) and Joel Randal (Rob), nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, her brothers, Harold, Henry, James and sisters, Sarah, Sue Elaine, and Jane.A memorial service will be held on January 9, 2016 at South Shore Christian Church 4710 S. Alameda St, Corpus Christi, TX 78412 at 1:00 p.m.
