Bruce Nix Obituary
Bruce Nix
Corpus Christi - There is no death, just a change of worlds (attributed to Chief Seattle)
Herbert Bruce Nix, 77, made the transition from this world to a heavenly world on May 12, 2021 as a result of Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Bruce was born July 7, 1943 to parents Irene and Roy Nix in Clarksville, GA. Shortly thereafter, identical twin Gerald arrived- it was great to have a best friend and playmate as he grew to adulthood.
Bruce graduated from Galeton High School in 1961, played an all-state guard on the Class C champion basketball team, followed by playing for the Mines basketball team as a freshman.
Bruce graduated from the Colorado School of Mines in 1968 with a degree in Petroleum Refining Engineering, better known today as Chemical Engineering. At Mines, he was elected to Tau Beta Pi. He was employed for 45 years in the petroleum refining industry, all in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Bruce chose Sharon Boegel as his wife and mate for life, with Sharon complying with his last request of "Give me a kiss". They shared 59 great years together, along with a family of 3 daughters and one son.
He enjoyed hobbies of fishing, woodworking and always had a productive garden. Bruce particularly delighted in family gatherings, usually accompanied by tasty proof of his grilling and smoking skills.
Bruce is missed by his family of Sharon, daughters Tammy Lane (Steve), Vicki Holliday (Grady), Susan Garner (Roger), and one son Randall Nix. He was especially proud, nurturing and loving of 6 grown grandchildren, Zack and Maddie Lane, Meagan and Natalie Holliday, and Alex and Lexi Nix. Also saddened and missing Bruce is brother Gerald Nix (Joyce), brother-in-law Mike
Engel and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded by his parents Roy and Irene Nix, sister Janet Engel, parents-in-law Clete and Virgie Boegel, and brother-in-law Jack Boegel.
There will be no formal celebration of Bruce's life at his request. The family will gather later to spread his ashes. The family requests that an appropriate tribute to Bruce is that friends perform acts of kindness to make this world a little kinder and gentler-it will make a difference.
