Charles Jenkins Obituary

Charles Knox Jenkins, M.D., (Charlie), passed away on 17 December, 2006 at the age of 66. He was born in Sinton, Texas as the second son of Young Sam Jenkins, M.D, and Christine Futch Jenkins of Taft, Texas. He graduated Salutatorian from Taft High School. Charlie completed his pre-med studies at the University of Texas in Austin where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and other organizations. After his medical training at Southwestern Medical School and internship with Parkland Memorial in Dallas, he completed his radiology training at Harvard Medical School with residency at Mass General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1968, he returned to South Texas where he became a member of the Spohn Hospital Radiology Firm in Corpus Christi. In 1990, he moved to Houston and joined the Houston Northwest Radiology Association, practicing at Northwest Medical Center and Cypress Fairbanks Hospital. There he served a term as Chief of Staff followed by a term as Chairman of Credentials. He retired in September 2006. He will be gravely missed by all of his partners and associates. Throughout his life, he received many honors and was affiliated charitably and socially with numerous clubs and organizations. These accomplishments appear minor compared to the countless times he came to the aid of family and friends. Charlie was a man of heart and compassion; he was respected and loved by those who knew him. He was genuine and sincere in his attachments. His humor and intellect drew others to him. His zest for life was contagious and his magnetic personality will always be engraved in the hearts of those who loved him.
