Emery Nix Obituary

Emery Dean NixVictoria, TXEmery Dean Nix, age 72, of Victoria passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015. Dean was born February 21, 1942, in Corpus Christi to the late Emery and Juanita Nix of Blanco. He attended Tuloso Midway High School where he was coached by his Dad. He was named All-District in football his senior year and earned a football scholarship to Baylor University as quarterback. He finished his career at Hardin Simmons University. He began working for Deluxe Auto Parts in Corpus, and later moved to Victoria where he owned and operated Highway 87 Auto Parts. He enjoyed horse racing and coaching his grandchildren in golf, football and baseball, just like his dad did for him.Dean was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Roger Jan Nix and his niece, Krista Nix Utley. Dean is survived by his daughters, Deana Rey Nix and Lucinda Dixon; grandchildren, Sierra R. Boop, MaCayla L. Boop, Colby J. Boop, Mathew McBroom and Ethan Best; wife, Corina Nix; brother, Kent Nix; niece and nephew, Kendall Nix Walton and N. Kory Nix.Visitation will be Thursday, January 22, 2015, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 pm at Prairie View Cemetery, 4618 FM 1069 South (off Hwy 361), in Aransas Pass.Honorary pallbearers will be Colby Boop and Johnny Lee Garza.Words of comfort may be shared at www.rosewoodfuneralchapel.com.
