Frances Skrobarczyk Obituary

Frances Maxine Skrobarczyk

Corpus Christi, Texas - Frances Maxine Skrobarczyk, 91, went to be with the Lord and her loved ones on May 27, 2021. She was born to Percy George Mercer and Rhea Boudousquie Mercer on September 28, 1929 in Nogales, Arizona. Since her father was a Rice Merchant in Mexico until she was almost six, she had a lifelong love of Mexico and the Spanish language. She attended St. Mary's Catholic High School in San Antonio and won the National Debate Contest in Chicago. Maxine was offered college scholarships but instead chose to work to help support her mother and brother. On April 19, 1952 she married the love of her life, William Skrobarczyk, Sr. and they shared 55 years together and had eight children. Maxine and Bill were devout Catholics believing God first, then each other and then the children. God and family were so important to her.

Maxine enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a giving, compassionate, patient, loving mother, grandmother and friend. She had a welcoming sweet smile that delighted all and she loved to have fun and laugh. She loved Mexican food, mariachis, afternoon tea and a good party. As she aged with Alzheimer's she taught us to love, persevere and find joy in the journey of life. She proved that life is precious and valuable even to the final moment as she shared spiritual experiences with others. Maxine is a beautiful soul who will continue to bless us forever.

Maxine is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William "Bill Barr" Skrobarczyk, Sr.; their son, Michael; her brother, George Mercer, and son-in-law, David Adams.

She is survived by her children, Mary (Jim) Kollaja, Ann Adams, William Skrobarczyk, Jr., Philip (Jenny) Skrobarczyk, John (Denise) Skrobarczyk, Regina (Terrence) O'Rourke, Peter (Pat) Skrobarczyk and her grandchildren James (Rhayssa) Kollaja, Nicholas (Kelly) Kollaja, Rachel (Frank) Gonzales, Christopher (Jessica) Adams, Rese (Tom) Cobbs, Rhea (Neil) Sahadi, Jacob (Raquel) Skrobarczyk, Michael (Elizabeth) Skrobarczyk, Jason (Madeline) Skrobarczyk, Philip "Chad" (Hannah) Skrobarczyk, Jr., Katie Skrobarczyk, William "Liam" O'Rourke, Frances Maxine O'Rourke, Andrew (Jill) Skrobarczyk, Lauren Skrobarczyk and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank especially Blanca Loera, her dear friend and personal caregiver of many years for her never-ending joy, dedication, love, compassion and excellent care of Mom. Additionally, we would like to thank the Holmgreen Alzheimer's staff and many caretakers from other floors who loved Mom, and Dr. Lee Sang, and the Kindred Hospice team for their excellent care and attention.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Seaside Reid Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 6:30 pm that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 3350 S. Alameda St., Corpus Christi, TX with Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.

Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are Maxine's grandsons, James Kollaja, Jr., Nicholas Kollaja, Christopher Adams, Jacob Skrobarczyk, Michael Skrobarczyk, Jason Skrobarczyk, Philip "Chad" Skrobarczyk, Jr., William "Liam" O'Rourke, and Andrew Skrobarczyk.

May God bless Mrs Frances in heaven as he did on earth. I was a small girl living on Osage St when I came to know of the Skrobarczyk family. My parents, 2 brothers & I sat on our front porch at night to hear Bill Barr's group practice, playing & singing their songs outside the Harris home. Their voices carried & others sat outside as well to listen. The family auto shop was down on the corner of Osage & Agnes. I never met her, but our families knew one another as neighbors. Precious memories, Shirley Weikel Vermillion

We personally did not know her but I know Phillip, Jenny and their family they are two of the best, kindest, and dearest friends we had while living in Corpus Christi. I’m sure “mom” had a lot to do with how caring, hard working, and passionate the family lives each day. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all as you mourn your sweet mom. Our love, Dr. & Mrs. Flavius Killebrew

Maxine was such a sweetheart. I know Bill was there to greet her when she left her earthly life. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you as you mourn the loss of your sweet mom, grandma and great grandma. I always enjoyed visiting with Bill and Maxine at reunions and seeing them together having breakfast after church on Sundays. Rest in peace Maxine.

Mary, I first met your mom through Marriage Encounter and thought she was one of the prettiest ladies I'd ever seen! While Joe and I didn't get to know her very well, we were in different circles, I would catch a glimpse of her now and then and my impression of her was always the same. How pretty she was and what a real lady she was! Please accept my deepest condolences to you and all your family. Am not in CC any longer and I miss seeing you and Jim at St. Pat's. Remembering you fondly.
